general record book shall be placed a certificate setting forth

the aforegoing is the levy list of the town of Cambridge for the
|
 
|
year. Both of said certificates shall be signed by the Mayor
|
 
|
and the Town Clerk and Treasurer, and authenticated by the
|
 
|
corporate seal. The first list made out shall be delivered to the
|
 
|
town collector without delay, and he shall proceed to collect the
|
 
|
taxes levied therein.
|
Adjuster.
|
71 (A). If anyone, who is appointed an adjuster under Sec-
|
 
|
tion 71 of this Charter, shall fail or refuse to act and perform
|
 
|
the duties required by said section, he shall be guilty of a mis-
|
 
|
demeanor, and on conviction thereof before a justice of the
|
 
|
peace, or in the Circuit Court for Dorchester County, he shall
|
 
|
be fined not less than seventy-five dollars and costs, and shall
|
 
|
stand committed to the county jail until both fine and costs are
|
 
|
paid. Each adjuster shall receive the sum of one dollar and
|
 
|
fifty cents per day in addition to the compensation now pro-
|
 
|
vided for each day that he is actually engaged in the duties im-
|
 
|
posed by this Charter.

Licenses for

75 (24). The Commissioners of Cambridge shall have power
|
traveling
shows, etc.
|
and authority to require theowners, managers, proprietors, lessees
|
 
|
of every circus or traveling show, before any parade or exhibi-
|
 
|
tion within the limits of Election District No. 7, or Cam-
|
 
|
bridge Election District of Dorchester County, to take out 9
|
 
|
license or permit, for which license or permit the said owner,
|
 
|
proprietor, manager or lessee of such circus or traveling show
|
 
|
shall pay such sum as the Commissioners of Cambridge may
|
 
|
fix by ordinance, provided that in no case shall such sum be less
|
 
|
than fifty dollars. All moneys so paid shall be used by the
|
 
|
said Commissioners for the corporate uses of said town. For
|
 
|
the enforcement of any ordinance imposing a license fee, of
|
 
|
any kind or description, the Commissioners may, in their dis-
|
 
|
cretion, either proceed to collect the license fee by a civil suit,
|
 
|
or they may proceed by a criminal action to enforce the fine for
|
 
|
the violation of the ordinance providing for such license fee and
|
 
|
fines.
|
 
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That all sections or parts of sec-
|
 
|
tions inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the
|
 
|
same are hereby repealed.
|
 
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect from
|
 
|
the date of its passage.
