should there be no contract awarded as aforesaid, the County

Proviso.

Commissioners may have said printing and advertisements

 

done wherever the public interests may be best subserved, but

 

in no case shall the total costs of the same exceed eight hun-

 

dred and fifty dollars; provided, however, that in the years of

 

new registration the cost of printing the list of names of the

 

newly registered shall not be included in the said amount.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts

 

inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed as far as they

 

may be in conflict with the provisions of this Act as far as

 

they apply to Howard County.

CHAPTER 305.

 

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 14 of the Code of

 

Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County,"

 

sub-title '"Sheriff," to be numbered 128, and to follow Sec-

 

tion 127.

 

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

Sheriff of

land, That a new section be and is hereby added to Article 14

County, Md.

of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard

 

County," sub-title "Sheriff," to be numbered 128, and to fol-

 

low Section 127, and to read as follows :

 

128. The Sheriff of Howard County shall be allowed the

sum of three hundred dollars for each and every criminal

for execution
of a criminal

hanged under due process of law in Howard County; and the

 

Sheriff aforesaid shall be allowed six deputies, if he shall deem

 

their services necessary for any such hanging; and the said

 

Sheriff shall render to the County Commissioners of Howard

 

County an itemized account of his expenses attending every

 

such hanging.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect and

 

be in force from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal Section I of Chapter 282 of the Acts of

 

General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January Ses-

 

sion of 1894, entitled "An Act to provide for the examina-
