respect to the public roads in Allegany County shall be co-

extensive with the powers, duties and obligations heretofore
|
 
|
resting upon the County Commissioners of Allegany County
|
 
|
with respect to the public roads and bridges in said county, ex-
|
 
|
cept in so far as the same may be modified or changed by the
|
 
|
provisions of this Act. The Road Directors appointed or elected
|
 
|
under the provisions of the preceding section shall, within ten
|
 
|
days after receiving notice of their appointment or election,
|
 
|
qualify by taking an oath to be administered by one of the
|

vises in each case ; provided, however, that no Road Director or

Engineer shall have any pecuniary interests in any contract

with reference to the public roads, and shall furnish no team
|
 
|
for work thereon, and Sections 15, 16, 17 and 18 of Article 25
|

of the Code of Public General Laws shall apply to said di-
|
 
|
rectors.

214. Said Road Directors shall keep books showing in de-
|
 
|
tail the expenditures on each road and section of road in the
|

of the County Commissioners of Allegany County, the Alle-

gany County Roads Engineer, and any taxpayer in said county ;

or any bridge, and before laying out any new road, or erecting

any new bridge, the cost whereof shall exceed fifty dollars, they

shall ask for and receive from said engineer plans and specifi-
|

cations for the proposed repairs and improvements, or of the
|
 
|
proposed new road or bridge; and before purchasing stone in
|
 
|
quantities of more than one hundred perches they shall submit
|
 
|
through the Road Engineer to the State Geologist specimens
