13. three justices of the peace and three constables; for Elec-

tion District No. 14, five justices of the peace and two con-
|
 
|
stables; for Election District No. 15, seven justices of the
|
 
|
peace and three constables ; but the County Commissioners may
|
 
|
in their discretion, upon the expiration of the terms of the
|
 
|
constables who are in office at the time of the passing of this
|
 
|
Act or who may hereafter be appointed under this Act ap-
|
 
|
point a less number of constables for any election district than
|
 
|
the number hereinbefore named ; provided, that there shall al-
|
 
|
ways be at least one constable in each of said election districts.
|
 
|
138. Each of said justices of the peace, before entering upon
the duties of his office, shall give to the State of Maryland
|

curity to be
|
a good and sufficient bond, with security to be approved by
|

the County Commissioners of Baltimore County in the follow-
|
 
|
ing penalties, to wit: justices of the peace appointed for the
|
 
|
2d, 4th, 5th, 6th. 7th. 8th. 10th and 11th Election Districts,
|
 
|
in the penalty of five hundred dollars; justices in the 1st.
|
 
|
3d. 9th. 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Election Districts, in the
|
 
|
penalty of one thousand dollars ; said bonds to be in the condi-
|
 
|
tion that each of said justices will truly and faithfully dis-
|
 
|
charge, execute and perform all and singular the duties and
|
 
|
obligations of justice of the peace, and that he will account
|
 
|
for and pay over to the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County, or to whomsoever else may be hereafter or otherwise
|

designated by law as the proper recipient thereof, all fines.

penalties and forfeitures or the portion thereof which he is
|

bound to account for and pay over as aforesaid, and that he
|

will faithfully and truly account for and pay over to the per-

longing to such person or corporation which may come into
|
 
|
his hands as such justice of the peace.

|
139. It shall be the duty of the Governor, after the appoint-
|
 
|
ment of the justices of the peace provided for in Section 137
of this Article, to select from the justices so appointed one jus-
|

to sit at the station house at Canton, in said district, and two

justices of the peace appointed from the 13th Election Dis-

trict to sit at the station house at Mt. Winans and St. Denis

I2th District to sit at the station house at Canton shall keep
|
 
|
his office at said station house, and shall attend at such station
|
 
|
house every day (Sunday excepted) at least from the hour
|
 
|
of 9 o'clock A.M. until 12 o'clock M., and from 3 o'clock
|
 
|
P.M. until 5 o'clock P.M.. and shall also attend at his said
