shall appoint a suitable person, a resident and taxpayer in

day after the first Monday in November, 1905, there shall be

elected by the legal and qualified voters of Queen Anne's

County a person with some qualification as required for the

one to be now appointed, whose term of office shall begin
|

on the first day of April next succeeding his election and end
|
 
|
at the expiration of two years from the date of his entering on
|
 
|
the duties of his office, as herein prescribed, and biennially after
|
 
|
the said general election in 1905 there shall be elected a person
|
 
|
as aforesaid with the same qualifications, who shall be, as
|
 
|
aforesaid, the Road Commissioners of Queen Anne's County,
|
 
|
and the terms of office of all such appointees and elected Road
|
 
|
Commissioners shall lie for two years trom the first clay of
|
 
|
April succeeding his election. The salary of said Road Com-
|
 
|
missioners shall be one thousand dollars per annum, payable
|

in equal monthly instalments upon the order of County Com-

missioners, who are hereby authorized and directed to issue
|
 
|
said orders drawn un the proper disbursing financial officer
|
 
|
or officers of said county in conformity to the provisions of
|
 
|
this Act at their first meeting in each and every month, and
|
 
|
the said County Commissioners shall provide stationery and
|
 
|
desk room in the Court Mouse of said county for said Road
|
 
|
Commissioners.

230B. It shall be the duty of said Road Commissioner to
|
 
|
ride over and examim- in each year the public roads of the
|

entire county and all bridges on said roads and, by written

report, state to the County Commissioners where and what
|

character of work is to be done on the said public roads and
|
 
|
bridges of said county. He shall personally .supervise the work
|
 
|
of the road workers or supervisors and see that their work is
|
 
|
done in conformity to the instructions of the Commissioners,
|
 
|
and shall from time to time make written reports to said
|
 
|
County Commissioners as to the progress and character of
|
 
|
the work done by said road supervisors, and use any and all
|
 
|
efforts in the interest of good roads and economy and for the
|
 
|
purpose of making said reports. He shall attend weekly the
|
 
|
meetings of the County Commissioners, if required, and he
|
 
|
shall give bond in the sum of one thousand dollars for the faith-
|
 
|
ful performance of his duties, said bond to be approved by the
|
 
|
County Commissioners.

23oC. Before any bills for road work are paid by the said

County Commissioners of said county to the supervisor of
