they are hereby declared to be subject to all the other rules and regulations,
to
every intent and purpose, as the public roads of said counties, mentioned
in said
act, are thereby subjected to. |

LXXXII. |
VII. And be
it enacted, That the justices of the peace of Frederick and
Washington counties, or the majority of them, shall have full power and
authority
to meet at their respective court-houses, when they may find it expedient,
and then and there may direct the main roads of their respective counties,
not
mentioned in the aforesaid act, or in this supplementary act, to be
repaired,
cleared and amended, in such manner as they may think necessary, either
by the
overseers by them appointed, or by contract with any person or persons
for that
purpose, and upon their being so repaired and amended, to settle with the
person
or persons so employed, and to direct the same to be paid for out of the
surplus,
if any, that may remain of the taxes to be levied in their counties under
the
aforesaid act. |

VIII. And be
it enacted, That all those parts of the second and third enacting
clauses of the above recited act, which relate to laying out, streightening
and
amending, the public roads in Frederick county, and appointing commissioners
thereon, and all those parts of the said act which authorised and directs
the justices
of the county courts, in the counties of Frederick and Washington, to levy
money, and to do the several other acts and duties therein required
of them, be
and the same are hereby repealed. |

IX. And be it
enacted, That one road leading from Hancock-town, on the
nearest direction, to Cumberland-town, in Allegany county; one other road
from
Cumberland-town to the Turkey Foot road on the Pennsylvania line; and one
other road from Knipton's mill, on George's creek, to intersect the state
road at
Savage river, shall or may be opened, streightened, marked and bounded,
in the
same manner as the public roads are to be done; and that John Denovan,
George
Robinet, Thomas Beall, of Samuel, Benjamin Tomlinson, be and are hereby
appointed commissioners on the first road; and that John Knipton, Matthew
Ball, John
Siglar, Mark Poland, senior, be and are hereby appointed commissioners
on the
third road aforesaid; provided, that the said three last roads shall be
opened,
streightened and amended and kept, at the expence of Washington
and Allegany counties; and that the commissioners appointed on the said
three roads be subject to, and act solely under, the direction of the persons
so interested
as aforesaid. |

X. And be it
enacted, That one road from William's-Port, in Washington
county, to intersect the road from Elizabeth-town to the Green Spring furnace,
at or near Little Conococheague; and one other road from William's-Port
to
Livingley's mill, on Conococheague, shall be opened, streightened, marked
and
bounded, as and for two public roads of the said county, in the same manner
as
other public roads are to be done; and that Samuel Porter, William Vanlier
and
Amos Davis, be and are hereby appointed commissioners on the said road,
who
are to exercise the same powers, and do the same duties, that are required
of
other commissioners; provided, that the said two roads shall be made at
the expence
of those who are interested therein, and not at the expence of the county,
and that the commissioners hereby appointed on the said roads act solely
under the
direction of the parties so interested, and shall be paid by them only
for their services. |

XI. And be it
enacted, That the road at present leading from Gilmor's mill,
on Gwinn's Falls, to Baltimore-town, shall be and is hereby declared to
be a
public road, and shall be repaired, amended and widened, so as not to exceed
forty feet, at the expence of the owners of the said mill, and others interested
therein. |
