and thing, in the said act contained, shall continue and remain in full force, and
be equally effectual, to all intents and purposes, until the said first day of February,
seventeen hundred and ninety-four, as if the said exclusive permission,
privilege and right, had been originally by the said act given and granted until
the said first day of February, seventeen hundred and ninety-four, to the said
Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn, his executors, administrators and assigns, except the
eighth and tenth sections of the said act.

CHAP.
 XVIII.

    III.  And be it enacted, That the said Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn shall, on or
before the first day of February, seventeen hundred and ninety-one, enter into bond
to the state before the governor and council, with good and sufficient securities,
such as they shall approve, in the penalty of one thousand pounds current money,
with condition, that the said Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn, his executors, administrators
and assigns, and his and their agents, servants and drivers, respectively,
will truly and faithfully do and perform all things required of him by this act,
and the act to which this is a supplement, during the additional term in this act
mentioned; which bond any person may sue for any breach thereof.

    IV.  And be it enacted, That if the said Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn, his executors,
administrators or assigns, shall refuse or willingly neglect to perform any of
the duties required of him or them by this act, and the act to which this is a 
supplement, according to the true intent and meaning thereof, to the prejudice
and damage of the state, that in such case this act shall be void, and the exclusive
privilege and right granted by this act shall cease and determine, and scire facias
may issue out of the general court against the said Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn, his
executors, administrators or assigns, suggesting the cause why this grant should
cease and determine; and of the facts suggested shall be found to be true by a jury,
(or the said Gabriel Peterson Vanhorn, his executors, administrators or assigns,
being duly summoned, shall refuse to appear or to plead) the court may give
judgment, and thereupon this grant shall cease and determine.

    V.  Provided always, and be it further enacted, That the legislature may, at any
time during the term in this act mentioned, reduce and lessen the rates in the original
act specified, if they shall be of opinion that they are unreasonable.
Proviso.
                                            CHAP. XIX.
                    An ACT for the benefit of Thomas Ruston.

    WHEREAS it appears to this general assembly, that Thomas Ruston,
of the state of Pennsylvania, during his residence in Great-Britain, in
the late war, manifested his attachment and friendship to the United
States; and this general assembly being desirous to remove all disabilities which
the said Thomas Ruston may labour under, in consequence of his residence heretofore
in Great-Britain;
Preamble.
    II.  Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all and every
disability which the said Thomas Ruston, by the laws of this state, may be liable
or subject to in consequence of his residence at any time heretofore in Great-Britain,
be and are hereby removed; and the said Thomas Ruston is hereby declared
to be entitled to all the rights and privileges of a citizen of the United States, and
be vested with the same titles and advantages, with respect to any claim against
this state, as if he had been a citizen of Pennsylvania at the time of the death of
his father Job Ruston.
Disabilities

    III.  And be it further enacted, That in case the said Thomas Ruston shall
establish his claim to any confiscated property in this state, that the treasurer of
the western shore assign to him bonds arising from the sale thereof to the amount
or value of such claim, after deducting all expences of the said sale, and all costs
which the state may be subject to in consequence of the passage of this act.
