MARCH, 1699 COURT 465

Lord the King his heires and Successors the Sume of one Hundred pounds of
Tobacco for his offence and to bee thereupon remitted, [fine]

His Majesty v. Matthew Makeboy

Bee it remembred that the Jurors of our Sovereigne Lord the King that now is
for the body of Prince Georges County for his Said Majesty upon their Oaths did
present Matthew Mackeboy of the County aforesaid Planter for that he the Said
Matthew the 28th day of March 1699 at Charles Towne in the County aforesaid
did in the Contempt of the Good Laws of this Province and allso of the Kingdome
of England make himselfe drunk and in Such manner did abear himselfe in
Fighting against the tennor and Provision of the Good Laws of God and this
Province.

And now here at this day (to witt) the 28th day of March this Same Court
before the Justices of our Sovereigne Lord the King att Charles Towne aforesaid
came the Said Matthew Mackeboy in Custody of the Sheriffe of Prince Georges
County and being brought to barr in his Propper person it is demanded of the
Said Matthew Mackeboy how he would acquitt himselfe of the premisses imposed
upon him.

And the Said Matthew Mackeboy cometh and defendeth the Force and Injury
when etc. and Said for Plea that he is Sorry for the Offence Committed and Sub-
mitted himselfe to the Court,

Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses by the Court being Seen and under-
stood it is Considered that the Said Matthew Mackeboy pay unto our Sovereigne
Lord the King his heires and Successors the Sume of one hundred pounds of
Tobacco for his offence and to bee in Custody till Fees Paid, [fine]

Bee it remembred that the Jurors of our Sovereigne Lord the King that now is
for the body of Prince Georges County for his Majesty upon their Oaths did
present Matthew Mackeboy of the aforesaid County Planter for that hee the
Said Matthew the 28th day of March 1699 att Callvert Towne in the County
aforesaid did in the Contempt of the good Laws of this Province and of the
Kingdome of England make himselfe Drunk and in Such manner did abear him-
selfe upon the Body of Isaac Williams of the County aforesaid Planter then and
there in the Peace of God and of his Majesty did make an assault and bitt him
the Said William by one of his Ears against the Tennor and Provision of the
Good Laws of God and this Province.
