oweth the Said Debt and Cost in manner and forme as the Said Thomas Green-
feild, Thomas Hollyday and Mary his wife Executors aforesaid in the plea afore-
said hath Sett forth etc.

Therefore it is Considered that the Said Thomas Greenfeild Thomas Hollyday
and Mary his wife have Execution against the Said William Barton of their Debt
and Damages aforesaid together with three hundred ninty two pounds of
tobaccoe their Cost and damages in this behalfe Sustained etc.

[W]illiam Dent against [R]ichard Marsden [G]arnishe of Joseph Stevens.

It was Commanded the Sheriffe of Prince Georges County that whereas at
Prince Georges County Court held att Charles Towne the fourth Tuesday in
August Last past William Dent Obtained an Attechment against the goods and
Chatties of Joseph Stevens for 834 pounds of tobaccoe Debt and 366 Ibs of
tobaccoe Cost of Suite in the whole amounting to the Sume of twelve hundred
pounds of tobaccoe that of the goods and Chatties of the Said Joseph Stevens he
attecht the Said Sume of 1200 pounds of tobaccoe if Soe much Should be found
in his balywick in the hand or hands of any person or persons in the Said
County and when he had the vallew aforesaid or any part thereof the Same in
his Costody to keepe Soe that he have the Same before the Justices of the next
Prince Georges County Court to be held at Charles Towne the fourth Tuesday in
September Instant and Likewise at the time of Executing the Said writt he give
notice to all person or persons in whose hands or possession he attech Such goods
as aforesaid that they bee and appeare before the Justices of our Said next Court
to Show Cause if any they have why the Said goods Soe atteched should not be
Condemned and Execution thereon had and made etc. and that he had then and
there the Said writt and make Returne thereof etc.

Att which Said day (to witt) the 22d day of September Annoque Domini 1696
Came the Sheriffe here and made Returne of the aforesaid writt Endorsed on the
back as followeth (Viz.)

[45] September the 16th 1696: Atteched in the hands of Mr. Richard
Marshamm who is Summoned to Next Court to Shew Cause etc. per Thomas
Greenfeild Sheriffe.

And the Said William Dent by Christopher Gregory his Attorney prayeth
Condemnation and Execution against the Said Richard Marsham of the Said
twelve hundred pounds of tobaccoe Soe Atteched as aforesaid to him by the
Court here to be Adjudged etc. And the Said Richard Marsham by Joshua Cecell
his Attorney Cometh and defendeth the aforesaid force and Injury when etc.
and Saith that the Said William Dent Execution against him of the Said twelve
hundred pounds of tobaccoe Soe as aforesaid Atteched ought not to have because
hee Saith that he doth not owe to the Said Joseph Stevens the Said Sume of
twelve hundred pounds of tobaccoe or any part thereof in form as the Said Wil-
liam Dent hath Alledged against him and this he is Ready to verryfie in manner
as the Court here Shall Considder etc. And Whereupon the Said Richard
Marsham here in Court made oath that he had not any of the Effects of the Said
Joseph Stevens in his hands nor had not at the time of Laying the aforesaid
Attechment etc.

Therefore it is Considered that the Said William Dent take nothing by his
Said writt of Attechment but be in mercy for his false Clammor And that the
Said Richard Marsham goe thereof without day etc.
