ordar of this worshippfull Court for Atteachment of the Said Goods in the hands
of the person that fraudulently dealt with the Said Crotoff for his Cropp of
Tobacco etc. in ordar for his Runing eway and your petitioner as in duety bound

Adjourned the Court for on hour and then Satt (Viz.)
Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wight, Mr.
Robert Bradley, Mr. Samuell Magruder, Commissioners.
Ordered that the Sheriff bring Mr. David Small Imeadiately before the Court to
answer to Such things and matters as Shall be objected against him.
Joshua Cecell haveing Produced a Comission for to be Clerk of Indightments of
this Court was accordingly admitted.

By vertue of the Power and authority to me Given to bee his Majesties
Attorney Generall and Prossecutor of his Majestyes pleas in this Province
to be Prossecuted and attended by my Selfe in the Provintiall Court and by Such
able and Discreet persons as I Shall appoynt in the Severall County Courts I doe
hereby Authorise Nominate and appoynt you Joshua Cecell of Prince Georges
County Gentlemen and one of the Attorneyes at Law of the Same County Court
to be Clerk of his Majestys Indictments and Prossecutor of his Majestyes Pleas
actions Suites and demands of what Nature or Kindesoever Ariseing
within the Said County and Cognizable by the Justices of the Said County Court
And the Proffitts fees and reguards to the Said office now apparteineing or which
may apperteine by Law to the Same to your owne Propper use and behoofe to
take and Receive requireing you by the tennor of these presents Dilligently to
Attend the Premises and observe the Severall articles of Instruction which now
are or hereafter May bee given you therein given under my hand and Seall this 17
day of January in the tenth year of his Majestys Reigne Annoque Domini 1698

Mr. David Small committed into the Sheriff hands to be in safe Custody till
hee give Sufficient Security for his good behaviour and for his appearance the
next Court.
John Davis appeard to his recognizance, was Clear'd by Proclamation.
Deborah Woodfeild made Oath that one John Rook had begatten her of a
baster Child whereupon it was ordered the Sheriff that he have the Said Wood-
feild to the whipping poast and give her tenn Lashes and that she serve her
Master Jonathan Simons one year for the trouble of his house by the Judgment of
the Court and the Said John Rooke be Summoned to answer.
By reason of the vehement Couldness of the weather it was ordered that the
Court be adjourned till the third Tuesday in February next and then mett and
Satt viz.
