And the Said Thomas Vaughun by Joshua Cecell his Attorney cometh and
Deffefendeth the force and Injury when etc. and Prayeth Lycence thereof to
imparle here untill the next Court and it is Granted unto him, the Same Day is
given to the Plantiffe Likewise etc.
And now here att this day (to witt) the 22d day of November Annoque
Domini 1698 came as well the Said John Hide and Company as the Said Thomas
Vaughun by their Attorneyes afforesaid and the Said James Cranford Prayeth
that the Said Thomas Vaughun to his Declaration aforesaid may answer.
Whereupon the Said Thomas Vauhun by Joshua Cecell his attorney cometh
and Deffendeth the Force and Injury when etc. and Saith that he is not in-
formed by the Said Thomas Vaughun his Client for the Said Thomas Vaughun
in the Plea aforesaid and nothing more thereof Saith by which the Said John
Hide and Company remaineth against the Said Thomas Vaughun undefended.
Therefore tis Considered that the Said John Hide and Company recover
against the Said Thomas Vaughun as well the Sume of five hundred thirty one
pounds of Tobacco his Debt aforesaid as allso the Sume of two Hundred and
Sixteen pounds of Tobacco to the Said John Hide and Company of their assent
by the Court here adjudged and the Said Thomas Vaughun in Mercy.

The Plan tiff by James Cranford his Attorney brought his Majestyes writt
against the Deffendant in a Plea of tresspass upon the Case it being for two
hundred ninety three pounds of Tobacco due upon account as by Declation
filed and account here entred may appear etc.
