AUGUST, 1698 COURT 361
The Condition of this Obligation is Such that whereas the Honorable Sir
Thomas [331] Lawrence Barronett his Majestyes Secretary of Maryland hath
Constituted and Appointed the Said Edward Willett to be Clerk of Prince
Georges County and thereby Committed to his Care and Custody all the bookes
Records Court Roles and other things and papers to the Said Office and place
of Clerk aforesaid belonging and Appertaining Now if the Said Edward Willett
doe in all things According to the duty and trust of the Said office and place
well and truly Execute and performe the Same trust and Charge and the Said
Records Bookes Court Rolles and other Deeds and papers doe well and truly
keepe and take Care of and preserve and true Entrys and Records of matters
Judgments and orders of Courts and other Judicall proceedings doe well and
faithfully make and Enter without any Fraud concealment or delay and the
Said Office and place with all the Bookes Records and Court Roles and other
Deeds and writeings thereunto belonging doe Surrender and deliver up when
hee Shall bee Lawfully discharged of the Said Office and place of Clerk as
aforesaid that then this Obligation to be voyd or Elce to Remaine in full force
and vertue.

Uppon which it is ordered that Joshua Cecell the Late Clerk of this County
As soone as posible he Cann Finish and make up all the Records belonging to
this County by him all ready begunn or in his hands and possesion to be
Recorded and that as Soone as he has finished his part of the Said Records he
deliver up unto Mr. Edward Willett all the Records precepts proceses papers and
all other matters and things belonging to the Records of this County etc.
Mr. Edward Willett haveing as well tooke the Oath of Clerk of this County as
allsoe the other usuall and Accostomed Oaths to Officers belonging Satt as Clerk
of this County etc.
Upon the Speaciall request of Mr. Joshua Cecell he was admitted to be Sworne
Attorney of this Court.
Ordered by the Court that Mr. Cecell finnish his records against September
Court, and at the Same time to deliver the papers belonging to him as Clerke
Now in his possession to Edward Willett the present Clerke.
John Wattkins desiers his marke to be recorded (viz.) a Crop and Slitt on
the right year and a Slitt on the left.
Margaret Mutra desiers a bay mare and her Increas to be recorded for the
benifitt of the Children of John Mutra Deceased.
Command was Given to the Sheriffe of Prince Georges County that Imediately
hee Summons a Grand Jury to try the Cause between our Sovereigne Lord the
King and Matthew Mackeboy, John Wells prosecutor.

dered to Serve according to Act of Assembly etc.
