24 PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY

of the high wayes to Cleare Lay out and marke a Convenient Rowling Roade
from his plantation downe to the plantation of Mr. John Biggers neere the
westerne branch in this Said County and your pettitioner Shall ever pray.

The above petition to the Court being Read It is the oppinion of the Court
that th[e] Said petition be Referred to the next Justice of the peace were the
petitioner Live[s] to order as his discretion Shall think fitt and Convenient in
the Same.

[26] Command is given to the Sheriffe of Prince Georges County that he Cause
to Come here the grand Inquest by him Sumoned and that he Returne the
pannell of the Same which Said pannell being Returned and the Jurors thereof
being Called Likewise Came (Viz.)

James Stoddart, foreman, Archable Edmonson, John Gale, Alexander Herbert,
Richard Edwards, Edward Fenix, Robert Orme, John Browne, John Pottenger,
Samuell Peters, Nathaniell Brothers, Nathaniell Wickam, Simon Nicholls,
Joseph Harryson, William Powell, Robert Wade, John Hallum, Thomas
Prather: Thomas Greenfeild, Sheriffe.

Which Said Jurors haveing all of them taken the oath of grand Jurymen whent
out to Consider of what presentments Should Come before them and after some
Small time Returned with these presentments following (Viz.)

[Prin]ce Georges County Ss.

The Jurors of our Sovereigne Lord the King that now is for the body of
Prince Georges County for his Said Majesty upon their oaths doe present
Matthew Mackeboy of the County aforesaid planter for that the Said Matthew
to witt att Charles Towne within the County aforesaid the 24th day of June 1696
did Sware divers prophane Oaths against the Laws of God and this province
Bladen pro Rege.

[Wittnesses Sworne: William Bladen, Cleborn Lomax, John Meriton.]

On the back of the aforesaid bill was (Endorsed) (Ignoramus.)

Benjamin Berry of the County aforesaid for that he the Said Benjamin the 24th
day of June 1696 att Charles Towne within the Jurisdiction of this Court did
make himselfe drunke and Soe drunkenly did abeare himselfe against the Laws
of God and this province. Bladen pro Rege.

On the back of the aforesaid bill was Returned and Endorsed (Ignoramus).
