WHEREAS, The Hon. Richard J. Bowie, of Mont-

gomery county, was duly elected by the qualified

voters of the Counties of Montgomery and Fred-

erick; constituting the Sixth Judicial Circuit of

the State of Maryland, Chief Judge of the said

Circuit, on the Tuesday after the first Monday in

November in the year one thousand eight hundred

and seventy-one, for the term of fifteen years from

the time of his election, und until his successor is

elected and qualified, or until he shall have attained

the age of seventy years; and

WHEREAS, The said Honorable Richard J. Bowie,

has since the period of election aforesaid, dis-

charged his duties as Chief Judge of the Sixth

Judicial Circuit, and acted, and is now acting as

associate Judge of the Court of Appeals, and will

on the twenty-third day of June, one thousand

eight hundred and seventy-seven (if his life is

prolonged) attain the age of seventy years,

when his term of service will expire, unless it is

extended by the General Assembly, by resolu-

tion pursuant to the third section of the fourth

article of the Constitution.
