An Act for the relief of John Smithson, of Harford County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS John Smithson, of Harford county, hath represented,
by his petition to this general assembly, that a certain road in said
county, authorised to be opened by an act of the general assembly,
passed at November session, eighteen hundred and five*, was laid
out through his land while he was a minor, and without his consent,
in such a manner as to subject him to great expenses and inconveniencies,
and that he hath never received any compensation for the
damages done him by said road, and hath prayed that he may be
compensated for the damages which he hath sustained; and his
prayer appearing reasonable, therefore, |

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
Thomas Poteet, senior, John Doran and Joshua Rutledge, be and
they are hereby authorised, empowered and directed, to ascertain
what damages, if any, have been sustained by a certain John Smithson,
of Harford county, by reason of a certain road laid out through
his land in pursuance of a law passed at November session, eighteen
hundred and five, chapter twenty-one, and make a return of
the amount of damages aforesaid, if any, so by them ascertained,
to the next levy court which shall happen thereafter, and the same
shall be thereupon by said court levied and collected as other county
charges are, and paid to John Smithson, or order. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the aforesaid
Thomas
Poteet, senior, John Doran and Joshua Rutledge, proceed to ascertain
such damages, they and each of them shall take the following
oath before some person competent to administer the same, viz.
" I, A. B. do swear, or affirm, (as the case may be,) that I will
" faithfully, without favour or partiality, ascertain the damages, if
" any, sustained by John Smithson, by reason of a road passing
" through his land, in pursuance of a law passed at November session,
" eighteen hundred and five, chapter twenty-one." |

wolves heads. |
1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
every person or persons producing a certificate to the justices of
the levy court of Allegany county, at their annual meeting, they
having complied with the requisites of the act, entitled, A supplement
to the act for the destruction of wolves in Allegany county,
passed at November session, seventeen hundred and ninety-eight,
chapter four, shall for every old she wolf's head be allowed seven
dollars, in addition to the sum allowed by the said supplement. |
