BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
it shall and may be lawful for the trustees of the poor in Somerset
county, and they are hereby authorised and empowered, in their
discretion, to keep any number of out-pensioners, and to allow
each of such pensioners an annual pension, not exceeding thirty
dollars, to be paid at such time or times as they shall direct. |

WHEREAS John Richards, of Montgomery county, by
his petition
to this general assembly, has set forth, that he is far advanced
in age, and being much afflicted with a dropsical habit, and other
bodily infirmities incident to old age, which renders him incapable
of providing for himself any longer, and praying that some relief
may be granted him out of the poor-house; and the facts stated
in his petition appearing true, therefore, |

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Montgomery county shall, and they
are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they shall see cause, to assess and levy, on the assessable property
of said county, a sum of money, not exceeding thirty dollars, for
the support and maintenance of the said John Richards, and that
the same be collected annually by the collector of Montgomery county,
and by him paid to the said John Richards, or his order. |
