effects, not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars, and the same, or any
part thereof, to put out to interest for the use of the said board, in
such manner as the said managers, or any seven of them, may determine,
and to apply the emolument thereof for the promotion of 
the objects contemplated by this act of incorporation.

CHAP. 159.

    4.   AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall and may be lawful to and
for the said managers, or any seven of them, to propose a scheme
or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not exceeding
one thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof;
provided the said managers, or any seven of them, do, before the
sale of any ticket or tickets in the said lottery, give bond to the
state of Maryland, in the penalty of ten dollars, conditioned that
they will well and truly apply so much of the money arising therefrom,
within twelve months after the drawing of said lottery, as
will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them, and
after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in said lottery,
and the residue thereof to the purposes of the said board of agriculture;
and the said bond shall be lodged in the clerk's office of
Charles county, there to be recorded, and upon such bond, or office
copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted against the obligors
therein, for any breach or non-compliance with the condition thereof.

    5.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said managers, and their
successors, or any seven of them, shall have full power and authority
to make ordinances for the good government of the said society;
to appoint a president, secretary and treasurer, to the said society,
and to award and dispose of the annual emoluments in such premiums
or medals as may be best calculated to promote the improvement
of domestic manufactures or agriculture in the said
county.

    6.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the treasurer so to be appointed
shall, before he enters on the duties of the said office, enter into
bond to the said board of agriculture, with such security as the
said board may approve of, conditioned for the faithful performance
of his duty; and that the said board cause a statement of the
distribution of their premiums or medals to be published annually
in some newspaper in this state.

    7.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That at all times hereafter when any
vacancy or vacancies shall happen in the said board of managers,
the surviving or remaining managers, or any seven of them, shall
have full power and authority to fill up the same.

                                       CHAP. CLX.
An Act to establish a Market and build a Market House in the Eastern
    Precincts of Baltimore, and for the regulation of the same.

Passed Jan. 20, 1808.
    WHEREAS the erecting a market-house in the eastern precincts
of the city of Baltimore, will be attended with great convenience to
the inhabitants thereof, and to the inhabitants of Baltimore and
other counties, and the same has been prayed for, the petition of a
large number of subscribers living in the city and precincts of Baltimore
and in Baltimore county; therefore,

    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Hezekiah Price, Aquila Miles, Thomas McElderry, Thomas Hillen,
William C. Goldsmith, Arthur Mitchell and Daniel Conn, or
Commissioners
