CHAP. CVIII.
An Act to authorise the Levy Court of Anne-Arundel County to assess
and levy a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned.

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the levy court of Anne-Arundel county be and they are hereby authorised
and required, annually to levy on the assessable property
in said county, a sum of money not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars,
to be applied to the payment and discharge of the expenses
incurred by the attendance of jurymen at Anne-Arundel county
court. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said sum of
money, when so
levied and collected, shall, by the said justices, be deposited in the
Farmers Bank of Maryland, and a certificate, signed by the clerk
of the county court, expressing the number of days which any juryman
may have attended, and the sum due to him for such attendance,
shall be a sufficient authority to the cashier of the said bank
to pay the amount so specified in the said certificate, |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said justices
of the levy court
shall, annually, settle and balance their account with the said bank,
and the surplus, if any, to be applied by the said justices to the use
and benefit of the said county. |

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That until the said
sum of money shall
be so as aforesaid levied and collected, the justices of the levy
court of the said county shall and they are hereby authorised to
defray the allowance of jurymen of the said county court, out of
the money belonging to Anne Arundel county, deposited in the
Farmers Bank of Maryland, to be drawn therefrom by a certificate,
signed by the clerk of the county, in the manner above directed. |

WHEREAS by an act, passed at the last session of
assembly, *
entitled, An act to lay out and straighten a road from Towson's
tavern, on the Baltimore turnpike road, to intersect the Pennsylvania
line at major David Wiley's, certain commissioners were appointed,
authorised and required, to view and lay down a correct
plot of the road therein mentioned, in the nearest and best direction,
and on the best ground, and make return thereof to the next
general assembly, which being done, and it appearing that the said
road will be of public convenience and advantage if carried into
effect; therefore, |

the plot and survey of the said road, so as aforesaid laid out by
the said commissioners, shall be and the same is hereby confirmed; |
