                                        CHAP. LXXXVII.
An Act authorising a Lottery to raise a sum of money for the Vestry
    of Saint-John's parish, in Harford and Baltimore County. Lib.
    TH. No. 1, fol. 401.

Passed Jan. 20. 1808.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
John B. Howard, John Rumsey, John Weston, James Weatherall
and Jeremiah Foard, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby
authorised to propose a scheme of a lottery, and to sell and dispose
of tickets therein, for raising a sum of money, not exceeding
two thousand dollars, to be appropriated to the repairs of the
church, and purchasing timber lands to be attached to the glebe
now belonging to the said church.
Scheme may be
proposed.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the said John B. Howard,
John Rumsey, John Weston, James Weatherall and Jeremiah
Foard, proceed to make sale of any ticket or tickets in the said lottery,
they shall give and execute a bond to the state of Maryland,
in the penalty of five thousand dollars, conditioned, that they will
well and truly conduct the drawing of said lottery, and apply the
money arising therefrom, within six months after the drawing thereof,
to the payment of the prizes drawn therein to the adventurers
to whom they shall be due, and the necessary expenses incurred in
the management thereof, and the residue to the repairing the said
church, and purchasing the additional glebe aforesaid.
Managers to give
bond.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in
the office of the clerk of Baltimore county, to be there recorded,
and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may
be instituted for any breach or non-compliance with the condition
thereof.
Bond to be recorded.

                                  CHAP. LXXXVIII.
An Act for the relief and benefit of John Hebb, of Saint-Mary's County.
                              Lib. TH. No. 1, fol. 402.

Passed Jan. 20, 1808.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the judges of Saint-Mary's county court be and they are hereby
authorised and directed to extend to John Hebb, of Saint-Mary's,
the benefit and relief of the act of assembly, passed at November
session, eighteen hundred and five, * entitled, An act for the relief
of sundry insolvent debtors, and the supplement thereto, passed at
November session, eighteen hundred and six, † without compelling
the said John Hebb to produce any evidence of his having resided
within the state of Maryland for the two years last previous to his
application for the benefit thereof, in the same manner as if he had
actually resided within this state agreeably to the provisions of the
said act, and the supplement thereto,
Benefit of insolvent
laws extended
to John Hebb.
