Keep fair accounts
of monies raised
and expended. |
4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners
shall keep
fair and plain accounts of all monies raised and expended in virtue
of this act, and return the same to the said court within two years
after the drawing of the said lottery; and in case any of the said
commissioners should die, resign, or refuse to act on notice, the
said court shall appoint another person, who shall be vested with
all the powers, and subject to all the penalties, of the original commissioners,
who, when so appointed, and before he proceeds to act,
shall give bond as before directed by this act. |

in clerk's office. |
5. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of said commissioners,
before they act as such, to lodge such bond in the clerk's
office of Washington county, there to be recorded, and upon such
bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their legal representatives,
for any breach of non-compliance with the condition of
the same. |

A Supplement to an act * to authorise a Lottery to raise a sum of
money
for the purpose of finishing the Roman Catholic Church
in Frederick-Town,

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly,
that some of
the commissioners appointed under the original act to which this is
a supplement will not undertake to act; therefore, |
Scheme may be
proposed. |
2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful for the reverend John Dubois, Peter
Mantz, George Baer, junior, Henry Darnall, Joseph Smith, Samuel
Lilly and Roger B. Taney, or a majority of them, to propose a
scheme or schemes of a lottery, agreeably to the directions, and upon
the terms and in the manner directed by the act to which this is
a supplement. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That so much of the
original act appointing
commissioners, other than those hereby appointed, is
hereby repealed. |

CHAP. LIX.
An Act to authorise and empower the Levy Court of Anne-Arundel
County to assess a sum of money for the purpose
therein mentioned.

Preamble. |
WHEREAS Mary Elliott, of Anne-Arundel county, by
her petition
to this general assembly has set forth, that she is a very poor
woman, and has a small child, and that she has entirely lost the use
of her legs, and one of her arms, which render her entirely unable
to support herself and child by labour, and prayed that a law may
pass authorising the levy court of Anne-Arundel county to assess
and levy a sum of money for her support; therefore, |

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Anne-Arundel county be and they
are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy courts annually,
to assess and levy on said county a sum of money, not exceeding
forty dollars, for the support and maintenance of said Mary Elliott,
and that the same be collected and paid annually to the aforesaid |
