                                    CHAP. XXVIII.
An Act authorising a Lottery to raise a sum of money to purchase a
    Fire-Engine and to erect Pumps in the Town of Easton, in Talbot
    County.

    WHEREAS it has been prayed to this general assembly, that an
act may pass authorising a lottery for raising a sum of money for
the purpose of purchasing a fire-engine and for erecting pumps in
the town of Easton, in Talbot county; therefore,
Preamble.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Bennett Wheeler, Nicholas Hammond, Peter Denny, James Earle,
junior, and Thomas Perrin Smith, (a) or a majority of them, be
and they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme of a lottery
for raising a sum, not exceeding two thousand dollars, for the purpose
aforesaid, and to sell and dispose of the tickets therein.

                (a)  By 1810, ch. 94, other managers are appointed, &c.

Scheme may be
proposed.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Bennett Wheeler, Nicholas
Hammond, Peter Denny, James Earle, junior, and Thomas
Perrin Smith, before they proceed to the sale of any ticket or tickets
in said lottery, shall give a bond to the state of Maryland, in
the penalty of four thousand dollars, conditioned that they will
well and truly apply the monies arising therefrom, within ninety
days after the drawing thereof, to the payment of the prizes drawn
therein to the adventurers to whom they shall be due, and the necessary
expenses incurred in the management thereof, and the residue
in twelve months to the purchase of a fire-engine and erecting
pumps for the use of the said town.
Bond to be given.
    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in 
the clerk's office of Talbot county, to be there recorded, and upon
such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
for any breach or non-compliance with the condition thereof.
To be lodged in

                                    CHAP. XXIX.
An Act authorising the laying out a Road in Worcester County from
    Winding's Landing to intersect the Main Road leading from Snow
    Hill to Philadelphia.

Passed Jan. 7, 1804.
    WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition
of sundry inhabitants of Worcester county, that the laying
out a road from Winding's landing to intersect the main road leading
from Snow Hill to Philadelphia at the place where Kendall
Cropper lives, would be of public advantage; therefore,
Preamble.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
John Bishop, Samuel Smith, Thomas N. Williams, Isaac Franklin
and Levin Mitchell, be and are hereby appointed commissioners;
and the said commissioners, or a majority of them, are hereby authorised
to open and clear, at least twenty feet wide, the said road
from Winding's landing to intersect the main road leading from
Snow Hill to Philadelphia at the place where Kendall Cropper
lives, and the said road, so opened and cleared, (after the valuation
herein after directed to be made, or the damages herein after
directed to be assessed, shall be paid, or secured to the individuals
concerned,) shall be recorded among the land records of Worcester
county, and shall for ever thereafter be deemed a public road,
and shall be kept in repair in the same manner as other public
roads are kept in the said county.
