to inquire into the probable
expense to carry into effect the method proposed
by the Rev. Neale H. Shaw, for ascertaining the regular
variation of the magnetic needle, &c.

to dispose of sundry
munitions of war, &c.
66. Resolution authorising them
to advance to Jonas
Green, (employed for printing a compilation of the laws,)
such sum of money as may be necessary, &c.
67. Resolution authorising them
to inquire whether
a lot of ground in the city of Baltimore, lot No. 65,
was
liable to confiscation, &c. if not so liable to order
the
bond, &c. by Francis Daws, and William Goldsmith,
to
be cancelled, &c.
68. Resolution requesting them
to call on the president
and managers of the turnpike roads, &c. for such
information,
&c. as may enable the executive to present a full
view of the state, &c.
69. Resolution authorising them
to invest the sum assumed
by the general government, &c.

to employ counsel for
the state in the case of J. McCulloch, vs State of Maryland,

71. Resolution authorising and
empowering them to
sell the powder in the armoury at Easton, upon such
terms as are inconsistent with the public interest, and
deposit
the money in the treasury,
72. Resolution authorising and
requesting them to appoint
three commissioners, residents of Allegany county,
to view and inspect the United States turnpike road,
so
far as it runs through that county, and to report what
measures in their opinion are necessary to be adopted
to
keep said road in repair, which report the governor and
council are to lay before the general assembly, at the
next session,

73. Resolution authorising and
requesting them to dispose
of all the gunpowder belonging to the state, and also
any other military stores of a perishable nature now
on
hand, upon the most advantageous terms, and to deposit
the money in the treasury; and also requesting them to
ascertain where a place of permanent deposit can be obtained
for the arms and military stores, and report to the
next general assembly, &c.
74. Resolution authorising and
requesting them to endeavour
to ascertain the best terms upon which the possession
of the Cumberland Bank Road can be obtained
by the state, &c. and also to inquire upon what terms
the
said banks will consent, (in the event of said road remaining
in their hands,) to release from toll all wagons, &c.
and to report the result to the next general assembly,
&c.
75. Resolution requesting them
to direct the attorney
general to prosecute any remedy which the state may
have against the Union Bank of Maryland, for denying
to Thomas Fairfax the right to subscribe for shares sold
by the treasurer in obedience to a resolution authorising
the said sale, &c.
76. Resolution authorising them
to procure the digests
of the laws of those states and territories of the United
States, which have not been procured, &c.

&c. two hundred
copies of the editions of the laws, under the direction
of
