Provisos.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

may be contained in any law they may pass for that purpose, and
the person or persons appointed as aforesaid shall have all the power,
right and authority, that may be specified in said act of congress;
Provided, that nothing herein contained shall extend, or be
construed to extend, to authorise congress to pass any law for the
changing the direction of the roads, or any of them, as now established,
or to authorise them to pass a law for the opening of a new
road; And provided also, that nothing herein contained shall extend
to authorise the congress of the United States to vest in any person
or persons whom they may appoint, a right to cut down or use the
timber, or other materials, of any person or persons whatever,
against his, her or their consent; And provided also, that nothing
herein contained shall vest a right in the soil of any such road, or
divest any right that any person or persons may be entitled to under
any law establishing turnpike roads.

An Act for the payment of the Journal of Accounts.  Lib. JG. No.
                                        4, fol. 346.
Preamble.     WHEREAS it appears by the journal of accounts of this session,
that there is now due from this state the sum of twenty-eight thousand
nine hundred and seventy-five dollars and forty-one cents;
Treasurer authorised
to pay.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the treasurer of the western shore shall and he is hereby authorised
and required to pay the several persons, their executors, administrators,
assigns or orders, or to such of them as shall offer to
receive the same, the several sums of current money allowed to
them respectively, as they appear to be settled and ascertained by
the said journal of accounts, out of any money now in the treasury,
or which shall come into the treasury, subject to the appropriation
of the general assembly.
