No. 22.
RESOLVED unanimously, That the governor and
council be authorised
to purchase, and cause to be handsomely framed, two sets
of the prints executed by Trumbull, the American artist, in commemoration
of the battle of Bunker's Hill, and attack on Quebec,
two memorable epochs in the history of our revolution, and the
same, when finished, to be hung up in come conspicuous part of the
house of delegates and senate chamber. |

No. 23.
RESOLVED, That William Kilty, in addition to the
laws which
he is appointed to revise, do cause to be printed the declaration of
independence, the articles of confederation, and the constitution of
the general government, with the amendments which have been made
thereto. |

court to furnish
copies of acts not
already printed. |
No. 24.
RESOLVED, That the clerk of the general court be
and he is
hereby directed to furnish the said William Kilty with copies of
such acts (not already printed) as he may require, and to compare
and examine, under his direction, such acts as have not been heretofore
examined and compared with the records in the office of the
general court. |
Resolutions of
Virginia, disapproved
of. |
No. 25.
RESOLVED, That the general assembly of Maryland
highly disapprove
of the sentiments and opinions contained in the resolutions
of the legislature of Virginia, inasmuch as they contain the unwarrantable
doctrine of the competency of a state government, by
a legislative act, to declare an act of the federal government unconstitutional
and void, and as they contain a request for our co-operation
with them in obtaining a repeal of laws, which, at this crisis,
we believe are wise and politic. |
Richardson's
Treatise on last
wills and testaments
to be procured. |
No. 26.
RESOLVED, That the governor and council be authorised
and
empowered to procure, by importation or otherwise, nineteen copies
of Richardson's treatise upon last wills and testaments, and
that one copy thereof be transmitted to each of the orphans courts
in this state, for the use of each court. |
Salary allowed
Adjutant General. |
No. 27.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore
be and he
is hereby authorised and required to pay to the adjutant-general of
this state for the time being the sum of six hundred dollars, and
no more, in quarterly payments, as his salary for the year one
thousand seven hundred and ninety-nine, provided the said adjutant
general reside or keep an office at the seat of government. |
Allowance of Brigade
Inspectors. |
No. 28.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore
be authorised
and he is hereby directed to pay annually to each brigade inspector
of this state the sum of one hundred dollars, as a compensation
for his services in the discharge of his duties. |

WHEREAS in the year seventeen hundred and ninety-six
it was
resolved by the general assembly of Maryland, that the treasurer
of the western shore should advance, on loan, to Jesse Hollingsworth,
Philip Rogers and Emanuel Kent, the sum of eight thousand
dollars, to be applied to re-building and completing the academy |
