                APPENDIX——RESOLUTIONS.

                                        No. 10.
    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore, on the application
of James Hutchings, of Queen-Anne's county, issue to the said
James Hutchings, or his assigns, a certificate for the sum of l393
7 4, bearing an interest of six per cent. from the time issuing
the same; provided the chancellor shall be of opinion, on evidence
to be produced to him, that a tract of land called Billingham, commonly
known by the name of The Homony Pot, which was lately
recovered by the state of Maryland, against Charles Stewart of
Anne-Arundel county, was held by Robert Smith, in trust for the
late Sir Robert Eden, deceased, and shall certify such opinion in
writing to the treasurer.

                        NOVEMBER SESSION, 1794.
                                        No. 1.
    RESOLVED unanimously, That the prompt and decisive conduct
of the executive in compliance with the requisitions of the general
government, in called out the militia, and in suppression of the
violent and alarming proceedings and disturbances in this state,
merits the approbation of the general assembly; and that the advance
of arms made by them to meet the exigencies of the
general government, and secure the tranquility of this state, although
not strictly within the constitutional limits of their authority,
was highly expedient and necessary, therefore their conduct
is hereby approved of and ratified.
                                        No. 2.
    RESOLVED, That the sixteenth day of December be appointed to
choose one senator to represent this state in the senate of the United
States, to be a resident of the eastern shore, and the person on
the said shore having a majority of votes of all the attending members
of both houses, be declared to be duly elected to represent this
state in the senate of the United States, for the term of six years; and
that a commission issue to the said senator, appointed as aforesaid,
signed by the governor for the time being, or in his absence by the
presiding member of the council, in the following words, to wit:
" To _____.  The Legislature of Maryland reposing especial confidence
in your integrity and abilities, hath appointed you senator to
represent this state in the senate of the United States for the term
of six years.  Given under my hand and seal of the state anno domini
_____.

    WHEREAS the testamentary laws of this state are at present extremely
confused, contradictory and defective, and so prolix that
the legislature cannot, at this session, conveniently undertake to
revise and amend the whole system:  And whereas it is probable
that the following gentlemen, from their long experience and practice
of the law, may be able, during the recess of the present legislature,
to frame a very complete code of testamentary laws,
RESOLVED, therefore, That Alexander Contee Hanson, Samuel
Chase, William Pinkney, James Tilghman of Queen Anne's, and
Nicholas Hammond, Esquires, or any three of them, be requested
to frame and prepare for the consideration of the legislature at
