appeals authorised
to give their
opinion relative to
the accounts between
the state
and Williams's securities,

No. 5.
RESOLVED, That the judges of the high court of appeals
be and
they are hereby authorised and required, to consider and give their
opinion, at the ensuing court of appeals, or at the next court thereafter,
upon the question of law lately referred to the judges of the
general court by the chancellor, when adjusting the accounts between
the state and the securities of the late Thomas Williams, under
a resolution of November session seventeen hundred and ninety,
and if such opinion shall be in favour of said securities, the
chancellor is hereby authorised and requested to make such decree,
as under all circumstances he shall think just and equitable; provided
that the original books of Thomas Williams, and the books of
the securities, shall be produced to the chancellor; and that the register
in chancery be and he is hereby directed to send a copy of
the case in appeal, to the attorney-general of this state, on or before
the first day of March next. |

No. 6.
RESOLVED, That Peter Hoffman, Thomas Beatty and
Henry
Griffith, junior, supervisors appointed by an act, entitled, An act
relating to the public roads in Anne-Arundel, Baltimore and Frederick
counties, be and they are hereby directed and required, to
lay before the next general assembly of this state, a full and fair
account of all monies by them received in virtue of the aforesaid
act, also a full and fair account of all money by them respectively
laid out and expended by virtue of said act, and by whom and for
what use the same shall have been paid and expended. |
Allowance to
clerk of council
for each commission. |
No. 7.
WHEREAS the duties of the clerk of the council to
the governor
will be considerably increased by the appointments under the act
to regulate and discipline the militia of this state, and it is just and
reasonable that some compensation should be given him for his additional
trouble, RESOLVED, That the clerk of the council shall,
and he is hereby authorised, to charge one shilling and ten pence
half-penny, for each commission, and the said fee to be paid by the
person accepting the same. |

RESOLVED, That the thanks of this general assembly
be and they
are hereby given to Christopher Richmond, agent appointed to settle
the accounts of this state with the United States, and to his assistant
John Wright, for the ability, diligence, and faithful attention
to the interests of this state, with which they have discharged the
trusts reposed in them. |
Governor, on application,
to grant
permission for
erection of a fort,
&c. |
No. 9.
WHEREAS the United States may think it necessary
to erect a
fort, arsenal, or other military works or buildings, on Whetstone
Point, for the public defence; therefore RESOLVED, That upon the
application of the president of the United States, to the governor,
for permission to erect a fort, arsenal, or other military works, on
the said Point, for the purpose aforesaid, the governor shall and
may grant the same with the consent of the owner of the soil. |
