Clerk to take an
oath. |
APPENDIX.
That the clerk take an oath of fidelity to this state,
and subscribe
a declaration of his belief in the christian religion, and
also take an oath truly, honestly and diligently, to execute his office,
and true entries make of all such matters and things as he
shall be directed by the board, and not to divulge any matter or
thing which he shall be enjoined by the said board to keep secret. |
Auditor's allowance. |
That each of the said auditors be allowed a yearly
salary at the
rate of two hundred and twenty-five pounds current money, for his
services and expenses. |
Clerk's allowance. |
That there be allowed to their clerk a yearly salary,
at the rate
of one hundred and twenty-five pounds current money, for his services
and expenses. |
Salaries of civil
officers. |
No. 2.
The house resumed the consideration of the salaries
of the civil
officers of government, and thereupon RESOLVED, That there be allowed
to the chancellor of this state a yearly salary at the rate of
three hundred pounds current money. To the clerk of the house
of delegates at the rate of one hundred and fifty pounds current
money. To the clerk of the senate at the rate of one hundred and
fifty pounds current money. To the clerk of the council at the
rate of two hundred pounds current money. To the messenger of
the council at the rate of one hundred pounds current money. To
each of the commissioners of the loan office at the rate of two hundred
pounds current money. To each of the judges of the court
of appeals and general court, thirty shillings current money for
each days attendance at, or travelling to or from court. |
Governor to examine
and adjust
accounts, &c. |
No. 3.
This house having, agreeable to the form of government,
appointed
a board of auditors to state and adjust all accounts of this
state relating either to the collection or expenditure of the revenue,
RESOLVED, That the governor and the council, or in the absence of
the governor, the council, be authorised to examine and adjust all
accounts transmitted by the auditors, and to draw orders on either
of the treasurers for payment, and the treasurer shall pay all such
orders. |
County courts to
meet and elect
clerk of their
court, &c. |
No. 4.
RESOLVED, That the justices of the several county
courts of
this state, or any three or more of them, may meet at the place of
holding their respective county courts on the third Tuesday in
May next, and may then and there elect and qualify the clerk of
their court, and nominate constables and overseers of the road for
their counties; but this resolve is not to extend to prevent any
court, whose proceedings have been aided by acts this session,
from appointing their clerk or constables at their meeting in virtue
of such acts. |

Militia authorised
to be paid. |
OCTOBER SESSION, 1777.
No. 1.
RESOLVED, That the governor and the council be authorised
and
empowered to pay the militia of this state, who marched under the
resolution of Congress of the 19th of April last, on the pay rolls
and subsistence rolls being produced regularly signed by the colonel
of the regiment to which they were attached by the resolution |
