VALUATION OF PROPERTY

 

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

of the original tracts, and the quantity of vacancy
added,
    Such lists to be transmitted to the several counties,
   The clerks of the court of appeals directed to make
out, from the records, lists of alienations since the last
list, expressing the names, &c.
    Manner of transmitting the same to the commissioners,
    Lots to be annually sent of alienations from time to
time, between the 1st of March and the 1st of May,
    Rules to be observed by the commissioners in estimating
estates and interests in lands and town lots,
    Tenants to pay to the collector the sum valued for
the estate or interest of any landlord,
—To have an action against the lessor therefor, or
deduct it from the rent, unless otherwise agreed on,
    The average value of land in Allegany county to be
50 cents per acre,
—In Washington county, to be $3 20 per acre,
    Lands to the westward of Fort Cumberland, in Allegany
county, disposed of in virtue of the act of November
1788, ch. 44, and its supplements, made chargeable
with the public tax or assessment, according to 
the value to be set to them,
    Not to subject to sale any lands before granted to the
officers and soldiers, remaining in their possession, or
that of their heirs or devisees,
    But the commissioners to cause all transfers by them
to be entered, and the land to be then subject to the
county taxes as other land,
    Directions as to lands therein sold for the direct tax
of the United States,
    The register of the land office shall, at the time of
making the list before directed, make a list of all the
lands disposed of in virtue of any of the said acts not
before returned, and transmit it to the commissioners
of the tax for Allegany county,
    Manner of appointing a successor on the death of a
collector,
    Bond to be given, and oath to be taken by such successor,
    Fines and penalties, how to be recovered,
    Ration of reduction to be used on the valuation of lots
and improvements in the several cities and towns, and
their respective precincts,
    Time of meeting of the commissioners, for noticing
transfers, and hearing appeals,
    Directions concerning the appointment of a clerk by
the commissioners in the county and city of Baltimore,
and his oath,
    The clerks to the commissioners to deliver to the
county clerks, and to the collectors annually, before
the 20th of June, duplicates of the lists of persons
chargeable with assessment, the property, &c.
—Penalty for neglect,
    The persons therein named appointed commissioners
of the tax in the respective counties and the city of
Baltimore,
    All the several acts contrary to, or supplied by this
act, repealed,
    Allowance to the registers of the land office for their
services,
    The commissioners of the tax for Anne-Arundel,
Talbot and Somerset counties, directed to meet and
revalue and reassess the real and personal property
within their respective counties,
—To be completed and returned according to the
45th section of the act of November 1812, ch. 191,
