            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    Certificates of survey of land before made in Washington
as therein described, vacated, and placed on the
same footing with all other vacant land in said county,
&c.
    See Certificate.
    Whenever land shall be taken up under a common
or special warrant, or warrant of resurvey, any person,
&c. may give in evidence under the general issue his
possession,
    Twenty years possession to be a bar to all right from
the state,
    Not to affect the title where warrants were laid before
the passing of the act,
    See Limitation.  Possession.

    A lottery authorised in the city of Baltimore for the
preservation and distribution of the vaccine matter for
the use of the citizens of the state,

    See Assault.  Crimes.  House Breaking.

    Directions for arresting vagrants in the city of Baltimore,
—May be committed to the alms house and to hard
labour therein,

    What persons shall be deemed vagrants,
    The act which had been virtually repealed by 1811,
ch. 212, revived, and the act of 1811 repealed,
    The children of vagrants may be bound out,
    See Apprentices.
    The corporation of the city of Annapolis authorised
to provide for taking up and committing vagrants, &c.

    Fee allowed to justices of the peace for attendance
on valuation of orphans estates,
    The value of goods stolen, &c. to be paid, where not
restored,
    The value to be paid where slaves are transported,
    A valuation of slaves or servants convicted and sentenced
to death or to the penitentiary, to be made by
the court, and the same to be levied on the county and
paid to the owner,
    Value to be raised by execution where reparation is
not made,
    Valuation under the further additional supplement
to the act to direct descents,

    On petitions of any guardian or prochein ami, for the
sale of infants estates, the value to be ascertained by
commissioners, &c.
    Directions for the valuation and payment for negroes
sentenced to be banished by transportation and sale as
therein directed,

    All real and personal property in the state to be valued
(and to be chargeable with the public assessment
accordingly,) except as therein enumerated,
—Property excepted, viz.
—Property belonging to the state or the United
States,
—Houses for public worship,
—Burying grounds,
—Property belonging to any county,
—Property belonging to any college or county
school,
—The crop or produce of the lands in the hands of 
the persons whose land produced the same, or in the
hands of the tenant,
