Nothing in the act concerning the
judgements, &c. of
the courts, to lessen the duty of the registers of wills
in recording wills, inventories, &c. but the same
to be
recorded under the direction and subject to the inspection
of the orphans courts, by the periods and in the
manner required by this act,
Hereafter the registers of wills may
grant letters of
administration during the recess of the orphans court,
—All letters heretofore granted by registers in the
recess, and the proceedings under them, confirmed,
&c. as if granted by the orphans courts,
NOTE. The act to establish orphans
courts, (February 1777, ch.
8, s. 6) directed that the registers of wills should
give bond, with two
securities, in the penal sum of £2000, for the
faithful performance of
their offices,
To be appointed to the board of examiners
of pilots;
his duties prescribed, and fees allowed,
To be appointed in every port of entry
of deeds of
apprenticeship, or for servitude of German or Swiss
emigrants. See Redemptioners.
To be kept by public notaries of their
official acts,
and copies given,
