            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

—Authorised to determine on the sufficiency of securities
in any writ of error bond, until a chancellor
should be appointed,

—Exempted in part from militia duty

—Fees regulated, and penalty on demanding or receiving
more,
—Directed to record final discharges, &c. to trustees,
when acknowledged as therein prescribed, with
the like fees as for other services,
—Directions as to certifying copies of former proceedings,
and for recording proceedings in future,
—Duties of former and present registers whose proceedings
are unrecorded,
    See Records.
    The clerk of the county courts, when exercising
equity jurisdiction, to act as registers,
—Their fees the same as those of the register in
chancery,

    Directions for the issuing of warrant to the amount
of the caution money, where a corrected certificate is
not returned within the time limited,
    The register for the western shore directed to issue a
patent for a lot called School or Charity Lot,
    The registers exempted in part from militia
duty,
    Copies of any of the books, &c. in possession of the
register of the land office, (not matter of record,) to be
received in evidence, when attested under seal, and to
have the same effect as the originals,
    Duties of the registers as to transmitting annually
to the commissioners of the tax lists of certificates
ready for patent, and lands disposed of as therein
prescribed,
    Allowance for their services therein,
    The governor and council directed to contract with
the register on each shore for making indexes of the
names of all the lands surveyed and patented since the
revolution,
    Allowance therefor, and directions for continuing the
same for future grants or surveys,
    Directions to the register of the western shore as to
the survey of Lord Baltimore's Manor,

    A copy of any original certificate, together with the
notes or illustrations returned, referring to the lines of
other tracts of lands, certified by the register under seal,
to be evidence in any court in the same manner as if it
were the original paper, and proved to be in the hand
writing of the surveyor, and that the surveyor is dead,

    An act to amend defects in the records, &c. in the
register of wills office in Harford county,
    Registers not to act as attornies or solicitors while
they act as registers,
    Directions as to the place of holding the office and
deposing the records, and as to the registers attendance,
in Caroline county,
—For the daily attendance of the register of wills of
Baltimore county, in person or by deputy,
    Registers of wills empowered to pass accounts against
the estates of deceased persons in the recess of the orphans
courts, not exceeding 50 dollars,
—Directed to keep their offices at the place of holding
the county courts, in Saint Mary's, Kent, Charles,
Talbot, Dorchester, Worcester, Harford, Washington,
and Montgomery counties,
