of corporal inability, without a certificate from
the surgeon, or if none, from two physicians, or one
where only one resides in the county,
Former certificates declared void, and surgeons
directed to take an oath on granting certificates,
The former enrolment and arrangement
into divisions,
brigades, &c. recorded in the adjutant general's
office, confirmed, except where it might be changed as
therein provided,
Alterations made to be returned to his office,
Brigadiers required under a penalty
to order a meeting
of the colonels or majors within the time prescribed,
to revise and fix the bounds of their several districts,
The same to be fixed accordingly, and returned
to the adjutant general's office,
Commanding officers of regiments required, under
a penalty, to give the like orders to the company
officers, where not exempted from meeting in battalion,
The bounds to be fixed accordingly, and returned,
Penalty on officers neglecting to
arm, accoutre, and
provide themselves according to the act of congress,
Articles, rules and regulations, by
which the militia
shall be governed,
Penalties on officers refusing or
neglecting to attend,
as members of courts martial,
On non-commissioned officers and privates so refusing
or neglecting,
The brigadier-general to appoint a
day for the meeting
and exercising of each battalion in May,
For the meeting, exercising, and inspecting of
each regiment and extra battalion, in September,
Brigade inspectors to give 40 days
notice to the commanding
officers of regiments and extra battalions,
Penalty for not giving notice, and for not attending,
Commanders of regiments to cause notice

within eight days thereafter to the majors, &c.
Majors or commanding officers of battalions to
cause notice to be given to the captains, &c. within

Captains or commanding officers of companies
to cause notice to be given to each non-commissioned
officer and private three days previous to the meeting,
Penalty on colonels, &c. not giving such notice,
Captains, &c. to appoint four
days for the meeting
and exercise of their companies between the first of
