JUDGMENTS

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    The salary of the chief judge of Baltimore city court
fixed, to be paid quarterly by the treasurer,
—Of the associate judges fixed, to be paid quarterly
out of the treasury of the city,
    Duty of judges, &c. on information of servants or
slaves being purchased for removal,
—Such slaves committed as runaways to be carried
before some judge of the county court or the orphans
court, for examination, &c.
    Duty of the judges prescribed concerning the records
of judgments, &c.
    Judges of the county courts, and of the city of Baltimore,
authorised to interfere in cases of German or
Swiss emigrants detained on board, ill used, &c.
    Judges in the counties therein mentioned to inquire
whether the license to retail liquors is for the use of
the applicant, and to examine him on oath, and if
otherwise to refuse to grant the same,

    On reversing any judgment, or part thereof, at law,
the court of appeals empowered to give the proper judgment,
—To be enforced by execution as by the other
court,
    Judgment when to be entered, on motion, on the
bonds given by county clerks for money due to the
state,
    Judgments for small debts, how to be proceeded on
after supersedeas, &c.  See Small Debts.
    Judgments on contracts for tobacco, how payable in
inspectors notes,
    Judgment authorised to be entered out of court by
confession or non sum informatus, by direction of the
chief justice, or either of the associates,
—Each of the judges out of the court to have the same
power as those justices,
    Fees on rendering judgment allowed to a justice of
the peace,
    Judgment against executors or administrators after a
plea respecting assets, how to be entered,
    Scire facias, when to be issued thereon,
 

    Executors or administrators not bound to notice or
discover any judgments, &c. against the deceased, but
the creditors thereon to exhibit their claims as other
creditors, subject to be barred in like manner,
—Not to deprive them of their preference where
the claim is exhibited in due time,
    Directions concerning executions on judgments in
the court of appeals, and the late general court,
    Provisions concerning judgments by default against
sheriffs or coroners in the late county courts,
    Temporary provisions concerning judgments in the
late court of appeals and general court,
—Concerning writs of scire facias thereon,
    The stay of execution on judgments in the late general
court directed to be extended in the court of appeals,
    Judgments on suits transferred to the county courts
not to be reserved for want of legal form in the record,
    On reversal in the court of appeals, the writ of procedendo,
when necessary, to go to the county courts
then established, &c.
    Directions concerning attachments with clause of
scire facias, and writs of scire facias on judgments in
the late general court, or to be rendered in the court
of appeals,
