            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    Persons intentionally pulling down chains or ropes
extended across the streets of Baltimore on Sabbaths,
&c. liable to fine and imprisonment,
    Retailers of liquors in the counties therein mentioned,
if failing or unable to pay the fine for suffering negroes,
&c. to be in their store-houses between sun-set
and sun-rise, may be confined in gaol not exceeding 3
months,
    No person shall be imprisoned in the gaol of Baltimore
county for any debt within the jurisdiction of a
justice of the peace, unless the creditor shall pay or secure
25 cents per day for his maintenance,
—Not to extend to persons committed for any fine
or fees, for a criminal act, or a breach of any law of the
state, or city ordinance,
    Persons convicted of any offence under the act respecting
banks, brokers, &c. to be committed to gaol,
on non payment of the forfeitures, &c.
    If the forfeiture shall not be paid within 20 days after
such commitment, the court may sentence the person
to undergo a confinement in the common gaol not exceeding
one year, and to be treated as the court shall
direct,

    Incorporated in Baltimore,

    All deeds of bargain and sale heretofore made, and
not indented, declared valid as if they had been duly
indented,

    Regulating the apprenticeship of German or Swiss
Redemptioners to be drawn, &c. by the registers as
therein directed, &c.

    Manufacturing Company of Baltimore, incorporated,

    Toll for grinding—not above one-eighth,
 

    In Dorchester county—provisions concerning,
—The chancellor authorised to execute certain powers
respecting the conveyances to purchasers,
—Sale of a lot therein mentioned authorised, &c.

    For a libel—the truth of the matter may be given in
evidence,

    Provision made for the removal of the record to
another county for trial,
 

   Persons committed for treason or felony when to be
bailed or discharged, unless indicted the first or second
term,
    The submission to the court of a person presented
or indicted not to be an admission of the fact, or to
charge him with the costs,
    See Crimes, &c.  Habeas Corpus.

    A purchaser of the right and title to a part of an intestate's
estate empowered to proceed under the act
to direct descents, against a minor entitled to other
parts,
    Where any person entitled to make election of land
at the valuation, is disqualified to declare his intention,
the next person entitled may elect,
—In case the eldest male is not of age, the eldest
female of age may elect, &c.
