            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    On contracts for tobacco, how payable,
    Against the deceased, not bound to be noticed by
executors or administrators, but the creditors thereon
to exhibit their claims as other creditors, subject to be
barred in like manner,
—Not to deprive them of their preference, if the
claim is exhibited in due time,
—Decree to be made on failure to produce books when
ordered,
    In the county courts, appeal not to be prosecuted
after three years,
—Proviso as to those before rendered,
    To be rendered in the money hereby made current,
—But not to vitiate those rendered in the former
manner,
    On appeals from decrees, the death of the appellants
may be suggested, and the proper party may prosecute
the appeal,
    Provisions concerning the records of decrees,
    Not necessary to make a demand of a compliance to
entitle the party obtaining a decree to process thereon,
    Where a power is given to take a bill pro confesso,
&c. a decision may be made against the absent defendants
on the testimony taken between the parties,
    Proceedings on appeal from decrees where the proper
parties may not have been made.

    Appeals from orders of the chancery court, and
county courts as courts of equity, confined to decretal
orders,

    Robbery or larceny of any obligation or bond, &c.
punishable in the same manner as of goods and chattels,
    Any person convicted of forging or counterfeiting
any deed, or aiding, &c. or uttering or publishing as
true such deed, to be deemed a felon, and confined in
the penitentiary not less than 5 nor more than 10 
years,
    Any person convicted of embezzling, raising, &c.
any deed, to be confined in the penitentiary not less
than 3 nor more than 7 years,

    A supplement to the act of 1799, ch. 18, for the preservation
of the breed of wild deer in Somerset and
Dorchester counties,
—Other acts for the same purpose, (viz. 1807, ch.
77, and 1810. ch. 22,) repealed where inconsistent,

    Provision in cases of judgment by default against
sheriffs and coroners in the former courts,
    Judgments by default to carry interest in the same
manner as those upon a finding of a jury,
    On the death of a defendant, where the person necessary
to be made by a party resides out of the state, subpœna
may be issued, and on proof of service, and such
party not appearing, judgment may be entered by default
nisi the 3d day of the succeeding term,

    In case of death, directions for process to the executor,
&c. residing in a different county,
—Same where residing out of the state,

    What shall be the first,
    When to be determined by the court,

    Provisional authority given to the treasurer to subscribe
to the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Company,
