            INDEX TO THE LAWS.

    A town to be laid out by the trustees of Charlotte
Hall School, by the name of Charlotte's Ville,
—The lots to be disposed of by lottery,
    Money loaned by the state for building a house for
the principal—terms of repayment—the property being
vested in the state,
    A lottery authorised for the benefit of the school,
    A sum in addition to the donation, to be annually
paid on the condition therein prescribed as to the interest,
    The trustees from Calvert county authorised to secede
on the terms therein mentioned,

    In Saint Mary's county, to be laid out by the trustees
of Charlotte Hall,

    Power of the county courts to declare the charters
of banks forfeited,

    Vessels prevented from anchoring on the fisheries at
the head of the bay, unless by stress of weather,
    Persons committing crimes, &c. on Chesapeake bay,
their aiders, &c. to be tried in the county where apprehended
or first brought,
—Provision for removing the record, &c.
    Punishment for stealing ships on the Chesapeake,
    If a person be feloniously stricken or poisoned on
Chesapeake bay, and die within any county, or stricken
in any county and die on the Chesapeake bay, not
within any county, the offender, &c. to be tried in the
court where the death happened, or the stroke or poison
was given,
—A person committing any crime, &c. on the Chesapeake
bay, within the state, and not in any county,
and all accessories, may be tried in any court having
jurisdiction of the county in which he may be arrested
or first brought,
    Provisional authority given to the treasurer to subscribe
to the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Company,
    Punishment for stealing or cutting away buoys moored
in the Chesapeake bay,

    Insurance Company, incorporated,

    Regulations respecting the wharf and ferry at Chester
Town,
    A Methodist Meeting House to be built,

    A company incorporated for erecting a bridge over
Chester River, at Chester Town,

    A bridge to be built over Chester River at the Head of
Chester,
    Commissioners appointed for the regulation and improvement
of Chester Town, &c.

    Ann and Mary, of St. Mary's county—money to be
levied for their support,

    One of the judges in each judicial district to be styled
in the commission chief judge,
—The chief judge, together with the associate judges,
shall compose the county courts,
—The court of appeals shall be composed of the
chief judges of the several judicial districts,
