            INDEX TO THE LAWS.

permit any entry to be made which might have been
made after verdict in the court below,
    Nothing herein to extend to criminal cases,
    Where the verdict and judgment are for a greater sum
than the damages laid in the declaration, amendment
may be made by entering upon the record a release of
the excess,
    The court of appeals may, in certain cases of entries
requiring an alteration of the judgment of the inferior
court, direct such judgment to be entered as the nature
of the entry or amendment may require, &c.
    In suits which by law are not to abate by the death of
either of the parties, where a declaration is filed before
the death of the plaintiff, further proceeding may be had
thereon; but the executor, &c. may after appearance
have liberty to amend as the plaintiff might,
    An act to amend the law in the cases therein mentioned,
    See Advertisement.  Chancery.  Sales.

    Sheriffs, Coroners, Surveyors, &c. liable to amercement
for not returning process or warrants as therein
directed,

    Branch, in Queen-Anne's county, to be drained,
    A road from, to Washington, to be completed,

    Provisions respecting a Tobacco warehouse,
    The funds of King William's School vested in the Visitors,
&c. of St. John's College,
    The act of 1797, ch. 115, concerning taxes, repealed,
    A lottery authorised for the improvement of the streets,
&c.
    The Farmers Bank of maryland incorporated, &c.

    Part of the act of 1784, ch. 49, repealed, and the monies
arising from fines and licenses to be paid into the
treasury,
—Licenses to ordinary keepers and retailers within
the city and precincts, to be granted by the county
courts, or an associate justice during the recess,
    Prince-George's and Anne-Arundel counties, including 
the city of Annapolis, form the second district for
electing representatives to congress,
    Part of Montgomery county, Anne-Arundel county,
and the cities of Annapolis and Baltimore, form the
third district for choosing electors of the president and
vice-president of the United States,
—The third district entitled to two electors,
    The electors of president and vice president to meet
at the city of Annapolis,
    A lottery authorised for making passable the road from
Annapolis to Washington, by Annacostia bridge,
    No person residing in the city of Annapolis shall
have a vote in Anne-Arundel county for delegates for
the said county, and the constitution, where repugnant
to this alteration, repealed,
    A lottery authorised for repairing the Protestant
Episcopal Church,
    A devise therein mentioned to the Methodist Church
in Annapolis, made valid,
    A Charitable Society incorporated, &c.
    The corporation of the city authorised to repair private
wharves belonging to persons refusing to repair
them, and to receive the wharfage, till the repairs are
paid for,
    Public ground then occupied by the Methodist Meeting
House, relinquished, &c.
