    9.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall and may be lawful for any
corporation or body politic in the United States, to become stockholders
in said company.

    10.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That said company be and they hereby
are clothed and invested with all the privileges, rights, immunities
and advantages, which are held and possessed by the turnpike
company incorporated by an act of assembly passed at November
session eighteen hundred and twelve*, entitled, An act to
incorporate a company to make a turnpike road from the District
of Columbia to the city of Baltimore, and be governed by the same
regulations as therein prescribed, and entitled to the same tolls.

    11.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if said company do not proceed
to carry on the said road, within ten years complete the same, it
shall be lawful for the legislature of this state to resume the rights,
privileges and franchises, hereby granted to the said company.

in the city of Baltimore, with the owners of the adjoining ground, &c.

                                      CHAP. CXVI.
A Supplement to an act*, entitled, An act for the distribution of a
    certain Fund for the purpose of establishing Free Schools in the

    several Counties therein named.  Lib. TH. No. 6, fol. 330.

    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
Thomas Turpin, Charles C. Brown, William Carmichael, William
R. Stewart, Daniel C. Hopper, Isaac Winchester, Walter K.
White, James Roberts, James Brown, William Gilbert, Richard J.
Harrison, and John Hackett, be and are hereby appointed a board
of commissioners for the purpose of distribution and applying the
fund mentioned in the act to which this is a supplement.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners shall meet
at the court house in Centreville, on the first Monday in March
and second Monday of October next, and on the same days in each
and every year thereafter, and at such other times and places as
may be appointed by their own adjournments; and in case any vacancy
shall happen, the remaining commissioners, or a majority of
them, shall from time to time fill up such vacancy.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if a majority of the commissioners
shall not meet on any of the days herein appointed, or at any time
by them appointed, the persons present may adjourn to some other
day, of which adjournment the absent commissioners shall have due 
notice.

    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That at the first meeting of said commissioners,
or a majority of them, shall choose one of their
number to be president, and one other member to be secretary, and
it shall be the duty of the secretary to keep fair and correct entries
(in a book to be provided for the purpose) of all the proceedings of
the said commissioners; and all directions or order for the payment
or distribution of any part of the said funds shall be signed by the
president and countersigned by the secretary.
