dollars, and also that the said trustees, by the name and title aforesaid,
shall be able and capable in law to sue and be sued, implead
and be impleaded, in any court of law or equity, in as full and effectual
a manner as any other person or persons, bodies politic or
corporate, may sue and be sued, plead or be impleaded; and that
it shall and may be lawful for the said trustees, by the name and title
aforesaid, to cause to be made and used one common seal to authenticate
all acts and instruments of writing respecting their business,
and the same at pleasure to alter and renew.

CHAP. 112.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees, by the name
and title aforesaid, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered,
to recover by warrant before a single magistrate, any money
which may have heretofore been subscribed, or which may hereafter
be subscribed, for the use of the said church, and the same proceedings
shall be had thereupon as in cases of small debts recovered
out of court.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That at all times for ever hereafter,
when any vacancies shall happen in said community of trustees,
by the death, resignation, or refusal to act, of any one or more of
the members thereof, the remaining trustees, or a majority of them,
shall with all convenient speed, proceed to elect, by ballot, other
discreet person or persons, to be trustee or trustees to supply such
vacancy or vacancies, and in like manner shall all future vacancies
be supplied by said trustees, and their successors, or a majority of
them, so as to perpetuate the number of three persons as trustees of
said institution for ever.

                                      CHAP. CXIV.
An Act to incorporate a Company for making a Turnpike Road from
    the Public Square in Hagers-Town to the Town of Boonsborough,
    in Washington County.  Lib. TH. No. 6, fol. 327.

Passed Feb. 4, 1819.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
a company shall be incorporated for making a turnpike road, and
building bridges over Antietam and Beaver Creeks in Washington
county, beginning at the public square in Hagers-town, and running
thence in the nearest and best direction to Funks-town, thence
through the main street of Funks-town, to the town of Boonsborough,
on or near the bed of the new road from Funks-town to
Boonsborough.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That subscription papers shall be opened
in Washington county, Frederick-Town, and City of Baltimore,
on or before the twentieth day of May next, for a capital stock of
eighty thousand dollars, in four thousand shares of twenty dollars
each, under the direction of the following commissioners, or any
one of them, viz. Upton Lawrence, Otho H. Williams, Henry Shafer,
David Clagett, John Sharer, Matthias Shaffner, George Baer,
John Brien, Henry Kemp, Luke Tiernan, Peter Hoffman and
Richard Frisby.

opened.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That every person subscribing for
stock in said company, shall subscribe, or cause to be subscribed,
