WHEREAS, it is represented to this general assembly,
that some
of the managers appointed by the act to which this is a supplement,
to draw the lottery or lotteries in said act authorised, are dead,
some have removed, and others refuse to to act as managers; therefore, |

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
Joseph Jamison, Eli Lilly, Caleb Merryman, Robert Fisher, John
Merryman, George C. Smith, Robert Bigham, John K. Rowe,
William Pechin, John S. Smith, Cæcilius C. Jamison, and Thomas
Wooden, or a majority of them who may be disposed to serve,
be and they are hereby appointed managers of said lottery or lotteries,
in addition to those named in the original act, or as many
of the survivors as may elect to serve as managers, and they are
invested with all the powers, and subject to all obligations, as the
managers in the original act aforesaid, as granted, created and imposed,
by said original act. |

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the lottery for the benefit of the University of Maryland†, and the
Falls Point Masonic Hall Lottery‡, and the lottery for raising a sum
of money to buy a lot of ground in Frederick Town, in Frederick
county, and build a church and parsonage house thereon||, be and
the same is excepted from the provisions of the act, entitled, An
act to regulate lotteries; Provided always, that the tax of five
per
cent shall be paid on all the prizes in each of the said lotteries,
and that before either of the said lotteries shall commence drawing,
the managers of such lottery shall lodge with the treasurer of the
western shore a bond by him approved, conditioned for the payment
of five per cent on the amount of the prizes in such lottery, within
sixty days after the drawing of the same shall be completed; and
the managers of any of the said lotteries, offending against the provisions
aforesaid, shall forfeit severally the sum of five thousand
dollars, to be recovered by indictment in the county court of the
county where the offence shall be committed, or in the city court of
Baltimore, as the case may be, for the use of the state. |
