Officers not to be
concerned in purchasing

notes, &c.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

    28.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if the president or any director,
the cashier or any other officer of the said bank, shall be concerned,
directly or indirectly, in purchasing any note or notes, bill or bills,
at more than lawful discount or interest, and information thereof
be given and supported to the satisfaction of a majority if the board
or quorum of directors, his or their seat or seats of office shall be
vacated, and the directors shall fill up such vacancy or vacancies.

Duration.     29.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That this act shall continue in force
until the expiration of the year eighteen hundred and thirty-five,
and to the end of next session of assembly thereafter.

                                       CHAP. XCV.
A Supplement to an act†, entitled, An act to incorporate the Trustees
    of the Bladensburg Academy, and for other purposes.

    No. 5, fol. 594.
Lottery authorised.     1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
it shall be lawful for the trustees of the Bladensburg Academy, or
a majority of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery or
lotteries, for raising a sum of money not exceeding ten thousand
dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets therein, and may
draw such lottery or lotteries, provided the said trustees, or such
of them as shall act under this section, shall, before the sale of any
ticket in said lottery, enter into bond, jointly and severally, to
the state of Maryland, in the sum of twenty thousand dollars, conditioned
that they will well and truly, within six months after the
drawing of said lottery shall commence, apply so much of the money
arising therefrom as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for
prizes drawn by them, and shall apply, within one year thereafter,
the balance to the erecting of an academy in or near Bladensburg,
which bond shall be recorded among the land records of Prince-George's
county, and upon which, or an official copy thereof, suit
or suits may be instituted against the obligors therein, or any of
them, for any breach of the condition thereof, by any person interested
therein.
Tickets may be
sold in any part of
the state.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees be and they, or
any person or persons appointed by them, are hereby authorised to
dispose of and sell all or any of the tickets of the said lottery or lotteries,
in the city of Baltimore, or any part of this state, exclusive
of any control over the same by the corporation of the city of
Baltimore, any law or usage to the contrary notwithstanding.
Repeal.     3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all such parts of the act to which
this is a supplement, as are repugnant to the provisions of this supplement
be and are hereby repealed.
