                                              CHAP. XXXIX.
A Further Additional Supplement to the act* to Incorporate the
    Stockholders of the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore.

If a majority of
directors are practical

mechanics, it
shall be deemed a
compliance with
former law.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
inasmuch as the number of directors to be elected by the stockholders
of the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, has been diminished by
the operation of a clause in the act to which this is a supplement,
it shall be deemed a sufficient compliance with the intent and meaning
of the charter of the said bank, as now amended, if a majority
of the whole number of directors, howsoever elected, or appointed,
are practical mechanics or manufacturers, actually carrying on as
their principal occupation some mechanical or manufacturing business.
To have the same
right to grant discounts
as other
banks.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the president and directors of the
Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, or a majority of them, shall have
the same right and power to grant discounts, in their discretion,
unrestricted as to extent of time, amount and security, in the same
proportion to the present or any future amount of capital actually
paid in, as the president and directors of any other bank within
this state, in which the state holds stock, have power to do the same,
any thing in the act to which this is a supplement to the contrary
notwithstanding.

†  Ch. 191.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
the commissioners of the tax for Prince-George's and Cecil counties,
be and they are hereby authorised and directed, to meet at
the respective county towns of said counties, immediately after the
passage of this act, or as soon thereafter as may be practicable,
and proceed agreeably to the provisions of an act passed at November
session eighteen hundred and twelve†, entitled, An act for
the valuation of real and personal property in the several counties
of this state, to revalue and reassess the real and personal property
within said counties.
Property not assessed
to 100 dolls.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That no person in said counties, whose
property shall not be assessed to the amount of one hundred dollars,
shall be liable for or chargeable with any tax, assessment or
charge, imposed in virtue of the act passed at November session
eighteen hundred and twelve‡, entitled, An act for the valuation of
real and personal property in the several counties of this state.
Commissioners appointed.     3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the following persons shall be
and are hereby appointed commissioners of the tax for said counties,
to wit:  for Prince-George's county, Robert Sewall, Francis
M. Hall, Clement Brooke, Benjamin Ogle and Joseph N. Burch;
for Cecil county, Edward Oldham, Hyland B. Pennington, Samuel
Hayes, George Davidson and Samuel C. Hall; and are hereby authorised
and empowered to carry into full effect and operation all
