according to the form herein after directed and prescribed; and
all bonds executed in virtue of this act shall be recorded among
the records of the general court, and the original shall be returned
to the governor and council, to be by them filed.

CHAP. 66.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be, and it is hereby declared
to be, the duty of the governor and council, at all times
hereafter, when in their judgment and opinion the securities of any
treasurer appointed, or hereafter to be appointed, have or are likely
to become invalid, to demand and require such treasurer forthwith
to give bond to the state of Maryland, with security to be
approved of by the governor and council, in the penalty, and according
to the form, directed and prescribed by this act, and in
case of refusal by any treasurer now appointed, or hereafter to be
appointed, to give bond, with security, as aforesaid, within twenty
days after the same shall be demanded and required by the governor
and council as aforesaid, such refusal shall be, and it is
hereby declared to be, a disqualification within the constitution,
and the governor and council are hereby required to proceed forthwith
to appoint a fit and proper person to fill the vacancy occasioned
thereby, during the recess of the general assembly, according
to the constitution and form of government.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That hereafter the penalty of the bond
to be executed in virtue of this act by the treasurer of the western
shore, and his securities, shall be in a sum not less than fifty-four
thousand dollars, and the penalty of the bond to be executed in virtue
of this act by the treasurer of the eastern shore, shall be in a
sum not less than twenty thousand dollars, and the form of said
bonds respectively shall be as follows, to wit:  " Know all men by
" these presents, that we _____, are held and firmly bound unto the
" state of Maryland in the full and just sum of _____ dollars current
" money of Maryland, to be paid to the said state, to which
" payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves,
" our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally,
" firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals, and dated this
" _____ day of _____, Anno Domini eighteen hundred and _____.
" Whereas the above named _____ was, on the _____, in the year one
" thousand eight hundred and _____, appointed by the house of delegates
" of Maryland the treasurer for the _____ shore of Maryland,
" and hath agreed to accept the said appointment.  Now the condition
" of the above obligation is such, that if the above bound _____
" do and shall in all things appertaining thereto, well, truly and
" faithfully, discharge and execute all and singular the duties of
" him required by law as treasurer of the _____ of Maryland,
" then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full
" force and virtue in law."

    WHEREAS Alexander Sutherland, by his petition to this general
assembly, hath set forth, that he is now almost eighty years of age,
and being afflicted with the rheumatism, and other bodily infirmities
incident to old age, has rendered him unable to support himself,
and prays that an act may pass to provide for his future maintenance
out of the poor-house; therefore,
