                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

part of the public road of said county, commonly called Carter's
Road, leading from or near the corner of the fence on the land of
the heirs of Vincent Dehorty, and running through the lands of
John Carter, and others, until it intersects the main road leading
from Punch Hall to Adam's landing, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

An Act to incorporate the Trustees of the Bladensburgh Academy, and
                    for other purposes.

                                                A Supplement, 1817, ch. 95.
Persons incorporated.     1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
Richard T. Lowndes, Thomas Ferral, William B. Jackson, William
A. Fitzgerald, Thomas Bowie, George Calvert, William Ross,
Levi Sheriff, Samuel Sprigg and Archibald Van-Horn, be and they
are hereby declared to be, a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of The Trustees of the Bladensburgh Academy,
and by that name shall have perpetual succession, and be capable
in law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be
answered, defend and be defended, in any court or elsewhere, and
to make and use one common seal, and the same to alter or renew
at pleasure, and generally to do and perform all things relative to
the management of said academy.
Vacancies how to
be supplied.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any of the above trustees of
said academy shall die, resign, or remove out of Prince-George's
county, the remaining trustees shall fill the vacancy thereby created
at the next meeting that shall happen thereafter.
To hold lands, &c.     3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be lawful for the trustees
of said academy to take, receive and hold, for the use of said
academy, any lands, and the buildings thereon; provided, that the
yearly value of all the real property at any time held by said trustees
shall not exceed two thousand dollars.

    4.  This section repealed by 1817, ch. 31.

An Act authorising a Lottery to raise a sum of money for completing
    an Episcopal Church in Baltimore County.

—bond to be given.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
Doctor Thomas Walker, Kinsey Johns, Jeremiah Ducker, James
P. Boyd, Randle H. Moale, Nicholas Brice, Thomas Moale, John
F. Harris, William Gwynn and George Winchester (a), of Baltimore
county, or such of them as may undertake to act under this
law, may and they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme or
schemes of a lottery, for raising a sum not exceeding ten thousand
dollars clear of all expenses, and to sell and dispose of the tickets
thereof in the city of Baltimore, or elsewhere, to any person or

    (a)  By the supplement (1817, ch. 31) other commissioners appointed in the
place of those here named.
