CHAP. CLXXVII.
A Supplement to the act (a), entitled, An act to establish
Pilots, and

Rates of pilotage. |
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
from and after the passage of this act the following reward shall be
allowed for pilotage, to wit: For every vessel from sea to the city
of Baltimore, four dollars, and from said city of Baltimore to sea
three dollars for each and every foot of water she shall draw, and
from the mouth of Potomac to George-town, and vice versa, there
shall be an addition of one fifth to the above rates, and so in proportion
for any less distance from any other part of this state to
sea, or from sea to any other part of this state, any thing in the
said original act to the contrary notwithstanding; and all vessels
not owned by citizens of the United States shall pay one third more
pilotage than the rates before mentioned.
By 1817, ch. 89, the allowance increased
one dollar for each and every foot of
water every vessel shall draw, for the months of December, January, February
and March. See 1818, ch. 188. |

An Act for the benefit of James Sewall, of Cecil County. Lib.

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the bridge made and erected by James Sewall, of Cecil county, at
his private expense, across Big Elk Creek in said county, be and
the same is hereby vested in the said James Sewall, his heirs and
assigns for ever. |
To keep the same
in repair. |
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said James
Sewall, his heirs
or assigns, be and he or they are hereby authorised and empowered,
at his or their own private expense, to repair or rebuild the said
bridge at all times hereafter, in such manner as the same may require
to insure its stability and safe passage. |

An Act to make a public Road from the Ætna Powder Works in
Baltimore

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
Cornelius Howard, Charles Carroll, (of Daniel,) Christopher Canan,
Dr. Thomas Johnson and Joseph Front, or a majority of them,
be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out, survey,
mark and bound, a public road, not exceeding thirty feet wide,
commencing for the same at or near the easternmost corner of the
land upon which the Ætna Powder Company's works now stand,
and thence running on a straight line until it intersects the Liberty
road. |
