                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

of the prizes drawn therein, to the adventurers to whom they
shall be due, and the necessary expenses incurred in the management
thereof, and the residue to the building a church in said
parish.

Bond to be lodged
in clerks' office.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in
the office of the clerk of Frederick county, to be there recorded,
and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may
be instituted for any breach or non-compliance with the condition
thereof.

                                           CHAP. CLXII.
An Act to incorporate a Company to make a Turnpike Road from the
    mouth of Monocacy, or some place near thereto,  through Montgomery
    County, to intersect the Baltimore and Frederick-Town Turnpike
    Road, at the Poplar Springs in Anne-Arundel County.

Direction of road.     1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
a company shall be incorporated to make a turnpike road from the
mouth of Monocacy, or some place near thereto, through Montgomery
county, to intersect the Baltimore and Frederick-town
turnpike road, at the Poplar Springs, in Anne-Arundel county.
Subscription
books to be opened.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That subscription books shall be opened
on or before the first Monday of March next, at Barnsville,
Poplar Springs, and the city of Baltimore, for a capital stock for
said company of one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars, in
five thousand shares, of twenty-five dollars each, under the direction
of the following commissioners, or any two of them, to wit:
At Barnsville, Montgomery county, by Nicholas Clopper, Joseph
Johnson, Ely Dorsey, junior, Solomon Davis and Charles Wilson;
at the Poplar Springs, Anne-Arundel county, by Colonel Thomas
Hood, Henry Wayman and Edward Warfield; at the city of Baltimore,
by Andrew Clopper, Amos A. Williams and Levi Hollingsworth.
Meeting of subscribers
to choose
president and 
managers.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That when one thousand shares of
said stock shall have been subscribed, the commissioners shall give
twenty days public notice of the time and place appointed for the
subscribers to meet, to organize said institution, and to choose, by
a plurality of votes, by ballot, a president and nine managers, five
of whom shall form a quorum, a treasurer, and such other officers
as they shall deem necessary to conduct the affairs of the company,
until the first Monday in March thereafter, and until a new election,
and to make such by-laws as they shall deem necessary, and
on the first Monday of March in every year, or within ten days
thereafter, said company shall meet for the same purposes, at such
place as the president and managers shall appoint; and in all elections
by stockholders each share shall be entitled to one vote, but
no person or company shall have more than ten votes.
Stockholders incorporated.     4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the stockholders in said company
shall be and are hereby created and erected into a body corporate
and politic, by the name and style of The Monocacy Turnpike
