sum of thirty dollars, for the use of William Gardner an orphan
child; for Mary Hopkins the sum of one hundred dollars, in and
for the maintenance of hers. If, her children, an aged mother, and
her afflicted sister; to Rezin Estep for the use of the five orphan
children of Charles Linton, the sum of forty dollars; and for the
use of the orphan children of Benjamin Gardiner, the sum of
thirty dollars; and for the use of Wilkinson Brashears and wife
the sum of forty dollars; which said sums of money, when collected,
shall be paid over annually by the collector of Anne-Arundel
county to the above named persons or their orders. |

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
the justices of the levy court of Caroline county shall, and they
are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property
of said county, a sum of money not exceeding twenty dollars, for
the support and maintenance of the said James Woods, and that
the same be collected annually by the collector of Caroline county,
and by him paid to the said James Woods, or his order. |

CHAP. CLX.
An Act authorising a Lottery for raising a sum of money to build
a
Church in St. Mark's Parish, in Frederick County.

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the vestry of St. Mark's Parish in Frederick county, or a majority
of them, be and they are hereby authorised to propose a
scheme of a lottery, and to sell and dispose of tickets therein, for
raising a sum of money not exceeding six thousand dollars, to be
appropriated by them to the building a church or house of worship
in said parish. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the said
vestry proceed to
make sale of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, they shall give
and execute a bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of
twelve thousand dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly
conduct the drawing of said lottery, and apply the monies arising
therefrom within six months after the drawing thereof, to the payment |
