CHAP. 132.

Bond to be lodged
in clerk's office.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of said commissioners,
before they act as such, to lodge such bond in the clerk's
office of Cecil county, there to be recorded, and upon such bond,
or office copy thereof, suit or suits may be commenced and prosecuted
against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their or any
of their legal representatives, for any breach or non-compliance
with the conditions of the same.

Application of
sum.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners shall apply
the sum received by them for such scheme to the purposes mentioned
in this act.
Proceeds.     4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners shall within
one year after the drawing the said lottery, be finished, or after
the sale of the scheme hereby authorised, apply the net proceeds
thereof to the enlargement of the present Academy in West Nottingham,
and the purchase of a select library and philosophical apparatus,
and for other purposes connected with the improvement of
said academy.
Vacancies, how to
be supplied.
    5.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That in case any vacancy or vacancies
shall occur by the death, resignation, removal, or refusal to serve,
of any of the above named commissioners, then and in that case it
shall and may be lawful for the said board to make choice of any
person or persons to fill said vacancy or vacancies.

An Act to incorporate the Hager's-Town Fire Company, in Washington
                            County.

Proviso.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
William Heyser, Thomas Grieves, Henry Lewis, Henry Kealhofer,
William Kreps, George Shank, George Smith, Richard Ragan, John
Kennedy, Robert Douglass, Theobalt Eighelberner, David Harry,
Peter Heifleich, Henry Strouse, George J. Harry, George Emert,
John Julius, Adam Ott, Peter Humerickhouse, Henry Middecalf,
Peter Miller, Charles Shaffner, John Hershy, John McIlhenny,
Philip Dusing, William D. Bell, and such other persons as now
are or hereafter may become members of the said company, shall
be, and they are hereby declared to be, one community, corporation
and body politic, for ever hereafter, by the name and style of
The Hager's-Town Fire Company, and by that name they shall be
and are hereby made able and capable in law to have, purchase,
receive, possess, enjoy and retain, to them and their successors,
lands, tenements, rents, annuities, or other hereditaments, and the
same to grant, demise, alien or dispose of, in such manner as they
may judge most conducive to the interest of the company; Provided
nevertheless,
that the said corporation or body politic shall
not at any time hold or possess property real, personal or mixed,
exceeding the sum of one thousand dollars per annum.
Powers of company.     2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said company, and their successors,
by the aforesaid name, shall for ever hereafter be able and
capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer
and be answered, defend and be defended, in all or any court of
justice whatsoever, and also to have, make and use, a common
seal, and the same to break, alter and renew, at pleasure, and also
to assemble and meet at such times and places as they may agree
