with one or more sufficient sureties if required, for the faithful
performance of their duties, in such manner and form as may
be required by the president and managers, or a majority of them,
or as may be prescribed by their by-laws.

CHAP. 9.

    11.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any person or persons shall
cut, damage or destroy, any turnpike gate, bridge, culvert, or improvements
of the said company within this state, made or which
hereafter shall be made, he, she or they, so offending, shall, and
each of them shall, for every such offence, forfeit and pay the sum
of thirty dollars, to be sued for and recovered, with costs of suit,
by action of debt, by any justice of the peace, and also the damage
sustained for the injury done or to be done, may be sued for
and recovered as in other cases.

An Act to alter and change the place of holding the Elections in the
    third Election District in Worcester County.

Passed Dec. 18.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the judges of elections for the third election district in Worcester
county, be and they are hereby authorised and directed, to hold in
future the elections in said district in such house in the village of
Berlin as may appear to them the most convenient.

                                                    See 1818, ch. 98.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That when the said judges shall have
made choice of a fit and proper house in said village for holding the
elections, and shall have returned a certificate thereof under their
hands and seals, or the hands and seals of a majority of them, to
the clerk of the county court in said county, to be recorded, the
same shall thereafter be the place of holding the elections for the
third election district in said county, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said judges shall return said
certificate to the clerk of Worcester county court, on or before the
fifteenth day of July next, and the said clerk shall record the same
among the records of Worcester county court.

    WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that the times
of holding the county courts of Frederick and Washington counties
are found inconvenient; therefore,
Preamble.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the county courts of Frederick county shall hereafter commence
and be held on the first Monday in March in each year, instead of
the first Monday of February, and on the fourth Monday in October
Courts, when to be
held.
