small shad, nor shall any fishing dam be erected that will impede
the navigation of the said river.

CHAP. 91.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any person or persons whatsoever,
from and after the first day of May next, shall erect any
fishing dam so as to impede the navigation of the said river, or erect
fishing pots, or other devices whatsoever, for taking of fish within
the river aforesaid, wherein the bottom slats shall be more than
one and an half inches wide, or placed closer together than three
quarters of an inch, or not rounded on the top part, or shall be
sliding, assisting or abetting, in building, setting up, repairing ot
maintaining, such fish dam, or such fishing pots, or any other devices
whatsoever, for taking of fish in the river aforesaid, by which
the young shad may be taken, destroyed, or obstructed from coming
down the said river, every such person or persons so offending contrary
to the true intent and meaning of this act, being legally convicted
thereof by the oath of one or more creditable witness or witnesses,
or by his or their confession, shall forfeit and pay the sum
of sixty dollars for every such offence, one moiety of which sum
so forfeited to be paid to the informer or prosecutor, and the other
moiety thereof to be paid to the sheriff of the county where the recovery
shall be had, to be by him accounted for to the justices of
the levy court of such county, and by them applied towards defraying
the county charges.
Penalty fo so doing.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all such parts of the act to which
this is a supplement, as are inconsistent with the provisions of this
act, be and are hereby repealed.

                                       CHAP. XCII.
An Act to incorporate the Trustees of the Jerusalem Church, in Frederick 
                         County.

Passed Jan. 24, 1814.
    WHEREAS sundry inhabitants of Frederick and Baltimore counties
have by their petition set forth, that they have purchased a lot
of ground, and have erected thereon a house for public worship,
and pray for an act of incorporation for the regulation and organization
of said house of worship; and it appearing reasonable that
the prayer of said petition be granted, therefore,
Preamble.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
George Eberhart, George Matthias, Jacob Bixler, William Hinkle,
Henry Wareham and Adam Bisk, from and immediately after
the passing of this act, shall be and they are hereby created a body
politic and corporate, in deed and in law, by the name, style and
title of The Trustees of the Jerusalem Church, and that they the
said trustees, by the name aforesaid, and their successors, to be
elected as hereinafter mentioned, shall have a perpetual succession,
and shall be able and capable in law to purchase, take, have, hold,
receive and enjoy, to themselves and their successors, in fee simple,
or for any lesser estate, any property, real, personal or mixed,
which by the constitution and laws of this state may be acquired
and held by any religious society; Provided nevertheless, that such
property shall not exceed ten thousand dollars; and also that the
said trustees, by the name aforesaid, shall be able and capable in
law to sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, in any court of
law or equity, in as full and effectual manner as any other person
or persons, bodies politic or corporate, may sue or be sued, plead or
